Whew. Just got done reading the thread. Doesn’t seem anyone has a physical explaination for this event (no “debunking” that I can see). Just the usual “Catholics worship Mary” pablum that usually pops up on threads that contain the “M-word” in their titles. Fortunately that pablum proves nothing.
It’s a beautiful story for those with a devotion to Our Mother. I actually hope this thread goes another 200 posts with the “Catholics are idolaters” nonsense. The more that see the OP the better in my opinion. Its beauty outshines all the dreck in the replies (in this case)

I just posted pictures of the general area from Google Maps, and it seems it was covered with tall grass or brush that likely wasn’t cut often. In that case, it seems the area around the statue, however, would have been maintained, or else it would have become overgrown, and that also seems to be supported by the fact that the grass that didn’t burn appears very short. So the fire might not have spread to the cut-down grass around the statue for that reason.
