The events took place at the El Goloso military base, located near the Spanish capital, seat of the nation's armored infantry brigade "Guadarrama." According to several Spanish news sites, including Infovaticana and Religión en Libertad, a fire broke out that was impossible to control, burning most of the surrounding vegetation.
Once the flames were extinguished, to the soldiers surprise, in the middle of the charred area, stood a statue of Our Lady of Lourdestotally undamaged! What's more, the soldiers were shocked to see that the grass near the statue had not been touched by the flames and that it was even still surrounded by vases filled with flowers, also intact, as if the flames had respected the space around the statue.
The fire took place on July 30, in the middle of the heat wave which had descended upon Spain. The soldiers could not explain why the statue had suffered no damage nor why the flowers had not even been blackened or withered by the heat. The story quickly spread though social networks, some suspecting a fraud, but further investigations have dispelled all possible doubts. In the photographs, one can easily see that the ground is completely burnt, except near the statue.
Indeed, for the most part, the soldiers on the base did not know that there was a statue of the Virgin in their garden. However, some of them who had a special devotion to Mother Mary had recommended themselves to this representation of Our Lady of Lourdes. And, the statue had already participated in official ceremonies at the military base.
The local authorities investigation seems sufficient to clarify the natural aspects of the event. There are realities that human knowledge cannot understand but that faith explains. And human science and faith, working together, offer some explanation.
Still, this story reveals Our Ladys special protection of this statue, however simple and unpretentious. And everyone can learn a lesson from this. Unexpected events may occur that set fire to a world full of threats and evils. In the near future, in the midst of disasters that we cannot even imagine, Our Ladyespecially Our Lady of Lourdeswill go through them, fearless and untouched, with the symbols of the devotion of the faithful. And those who believe, even if they are a minority discredited by the atheist or unbelieving majority, will be recognized amid the tragedy as Heavens beloved children.
When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray...what did He teach them?
I believe it was Mary Magdalene.
those saved go immediately to be with Christ, those damned, enter hades until the Great White Throne Judgement at then end of the Millennial Reign of Christ, only to be tossed into the Eternal Lake of Fire with Satan, his demons, and the antichrist & false prophet.
Still waiting for any Biblical proof of a purgatory, since it’s never mentioned. It also cheapens the free grace of our Lord & His eternal sacrifice.
Sure you are.
You subscribe to certain extra-biblical doctrines that preclude Mary from having any significant role in the daily life of a Christian. To that end, you feel compelled to challenge anything that doesn't comport with your doctrines.
And yes....Mary is excluded from the daily life of a Christian.
We have been given the Helper.....the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. Mary is not needed.
But grass and flowers, do.
Marvin, are you forgetting the how wholly blasphemous the doctrine of the Incarnation is, yet we believe it?
There’s a difference, still, even between a putative member of a prayer committee and a figure that bids fair to dominate the spiritual oxygen of a room.
What I never hear from Catholics is something like “Thank you Jesus for answering the prayer from St. Mary.” Like I might, in fact should, if my church prayed for me.
One of those things that gets you going hmmmm....
There is going to be some kind of cathartic encounter. Whether that deserves to be formalized as a purgatory? Heaven if I know.
“... are you forgetting the how wholly blasphemous the doctrine of the Incarnation is ...”
*In my best Ricky Ricardo voice* Splain that one to me! How can the incarnation be blasphemous?
So you say. And I agree, the Protestant doctrines of Biblical sufficiency are non-biblical; hence, the multiplicity of Protestant factions as "every man does what's right in his own eyes."
Don’t distort please. It isn’t “nuda scriptura” for one thing.
Tears of joy or releasing of bowels in horror...just depends on the individual and the decisions they made in this life....
This has descended to the point of slinging around meaningless jargon in heat, not attempting to calmly understand the differences.
How about first being ashamed then relieved?
If you really want to stand at the Great White Throne of Judgment, you can ... but Jesus implores you to be of broken and contrite spirit NOW, and be born from above NOW, and have His life placed in you NOW as a blood washed saint in the NOW, so you will be under no condemnation and not be judged at the Great White Throne of Judgment THEN. Then will He send His Angels to gather all together who are not of His. Having the opportunity to be His NOW, and rejecting that Grace of God in Christ will certainly get you a stand before the Great White Throne of Judgment, but it will be a horrible experience for any who NOW reject His Grace waiting for THEN.
Since it's completely predictable, why do you participate? If you get involved in it, you have no basis for complaining about it.
Good Heavens man! God in a human body?!?!?
Granted, it's much more comfortable to us being familiar with it for thousands of years, but the very concept is an offense to the Jewish mind, contemporary OR ancient.
Point out where I have done any such thing.
When there was no KING in Israel, every man did what was right in his own eyes ... those born from above NOW have THE King in their Spirit.
