The Shroud is absolutely fascinating. I’m convinced it’s Christ’s burial cloth
I think the reason skeptics deny the science is, if they accept any of that, their core beliefs have been dramatically challenged, and they would have to go back and reconfigure who they are and what they believe in, he said. Its much easier to reject it out of hand, and not worry about it. That way they dont have to confront their own beliefs.
I am convinced the Shroud is His burial cloth and the image was burned into it when He converted back to His true form aka rose from the dead.
We probably don’t have even an inkling of the nature of “matter” that makes up an immortal resurrected form (one which by definition is not subject to entropy), but conversion from our matter to that “matter” could very well involve a release of a LOT of energy that might just etch an image into anything in proximity (c.f. the “shadows” cast be people onto stone walls at Hiroshima).
Just wait until he starts reading the New Testament...
I’ve read this guys story. Every time they try to prove the shroud a fake it strengthens the belief in it.
There is one justification to support the authenticity of the Shroud that I have never seen put forward ... the wounds on his head that line up with the crown of thorns. There were many crucifixions at that time but how many of these victims were given a crown of thorns to wear. The crown was given in mockery of our Lord's testimony to His heavenly kingdom. For non believers, those wounds stand as testimony to the only one history records as having been given a crown of thorns.
I’ve always believed the Shroud is real for the simple reason that the technology to create it didn’t exist until the past few decades and it is older than that.
It is not man-made. Nothing in modern science can say that.
Therefore it is something beyond man and to me that means God.
You might be on to something. Shadows of three dimensional beings are two dimensional. "Shadows" of four dimensional beings should be three dimensional. Perhaps this "3D" image is some sort of manifestation of that.
I strongly think our Lord is a multi-dimensional being, if you want to strive and place a limited human understanding on the nature of God.
The technology to create the Shroud still doesn't exist. Nobody has been able to duplicate the image.
There’s a book called “How Skin Bacteria Created the Image on the Shroud of Turin,” by Stephen Mattingly. Does anyone know if Schwortz has ever addressed that theory? Should be an easy one to test.
A very cool article.
“...adding that science is unable to test for the sort of images that would be produced by a human body rising from the dead.”
How does anyone know what sort of images are produced by a human body rising from the dead? I don’t get it.
Freegards
AMEN, I second it!
Has anyone tried?
Who knows? But they would have had to, and succeeded, in order to claim that the tech exists today to create it. Likely the ONLY way to create it is the resurrection of the “glorified” human body.
If skin bacteria created the Shroud, there would be one hell of a lot of shroudlike images from the gazillions of dead people that have been covered in cloth of some sort. That is one of the incredible things about the Shroud, there is only one and it just happens to be the burial cloth of Christ.
