And you live. 8<)
I am a Methodist pastor and retired US Army Chaplain. Your statement is close to accurate. I think it's about 50/50, and if we add the African churches, then it goes a little bit conservative. Methodist pastors are normally considered to be the elders, but we also have local pastors and lay speakers who are pastoring small churches. These tend to be more conservative and the counter-balance to the more liberal elders.
Our first one was uber-left but personable. He went on to run a local social services agency. The second was a female who always wrangled the sermon, no matter the stated topic, into a talk on homosexuality and AIDS. The third was somewhat conservative, a troubled country pastor. I never knew an obviously leftist Lutheran (ALC, LCA and Missouri Synod) while growing up.
Rural UMC churches tend to be more conservative and urban/suburban tend to be more liberal. Those aren’t hard and fast rules, but they’re close, and especially if an elder is NOT in the pulpit. Send someone to one of the denominational seminaries and they’ll either come out liberal or be pestered into leaving.
It is stunning that while Republican lawmakers and anti-choice extremists continue introducing and passing misogynistic laws restricting womans reproductive rights, there is never any outrage that they are legislating religious edicts.
Humans, unlike some animals do not kill and eat their babies
and in a way it is the same thing as it is about me survive and to hell with you.
I believe there are reasons for abortion as i do not have a closed mind but the far biggest reason for abortion is women screwing around with some who would make them vomit if they were not either drunk or in heat.
IIRC, to work in social work, counseling, voc. rehab. and several other fields, one must take an oath to progressive causes or some such.
Sartain, that’s how.
She smiles like she’s passing a kidney stone.
Sr. Joan, do you pay taxes? Does your Order pay taxes? Do any of the nuns or the member Orders of the LCWR pay taxes? Do you maybe pay property taxes? What about the property lent to you by the dioceses, is that taxed? What about that bus you use to tour the country promoting feminism, lesbianism and abortion? Paid for by you?
No to all of the above.
According to your rationale, “sister,” a person’s morality comes down to what they are willing to be taxed for. Not what they are willing to die for, or work for, or pay for, as most do in 10% tithing to the Church and more to charity.
But only whether or not they want government to decide who and what is worthy of monetary support. Yet you yourself and all your cohorts are not paying in one penny to this wonderful “system” you advocate.
2) This is the 1970s theme used to promote abortion in the first place, every child a wanted child. It is really the call of death.
3) How many women have sex outside of wedlock and get pregnant? Where is there responsibility?
4) Of those children brought to term, how many has the author helped raise and support? Or is she advocating death for the sake of convenience?
Catholics help the poor and needy, you know. Nuns take care of my mother very well. You need to get out more and see how Catholics help children.
The REAL “brave nuns” are those who have joined the much more “traditional” orders.
NEVER forget that these pro-abort people are baby murderers caught up in the largest wholesale slaughter in the history of creation.
Satan does have a counterfeit righteous side to his Kingdom. And just like scripture says, a divided Kingdom cannot stand.
What? me thinks he doth protest too much!
So many couples are waiting to adopt, it is so hard monetarily to do though. Last I heard it cost a minimum of $10,000 to hire a lawyer to adopt. That is why so many young couples foster. They do take the drug addicted, physically challenged, mentally marginalized babies to care for while their birth mother has an opportunity to clean up and be a mother. Most never do, but the fear of losing your foster child to a messed up mother for years is traumatic. Can't lawyers reduce their fees a little to help more children to be saved from the forceps?
Adoption is the way to go!
Even being a foster parent is good also. God Bless those who both adopt and do fostering as well.
Real Lefty Fake Lutherans can be found today in elca. Any in LCMS are thankfully being rooted out to the elca.
The ELCA didn’t exist back then. We went to ALC or LCA depending on closeness (we moved around a lot) and I attended a LCMS school for awhile.
