At every funeral we experience concretely that death remains an enemy. Once a person breathes his last he is out of our reach. Death is so final. But why do believers need to die if Christ has gained the victory over death? In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul addresses this issue and confirms the glorious gospel of Christ’s victory over death. Death came into the world because of sin. Since Christ conquered sin He has conquered death, too. Death is not a natural part of our existence. Sin brought death into the world but the Lord Jesus came to deliver us from the curse of death. According to God’s counsel and plan, all Christ’s enemies must be brought into subjection to Him. Satan, godless men, sin and death will all be placed under His feet. The last enemy which Christ will destroy is death.
Why is death the last enemy to be subdued? Is it because death is the last of the enemies to enter a person’s life? Although this may be true, the real reason lies elsewhere. Think about it. If Christ had destroyed death right after His resurrection He wouldn’t have been able to finish His work of redemption. For it was the will of the Lord to have the message of Christ’s victory preached to all nations. Death is the last enemy to be destroyed to give Christ the opportunity to gather all His sheep, to gather all who are chosen to everlasting life.
Notice the mercy of God. He delivers His redeemed and takes them out of this sinful life. The Lord takes His loved ones to Himself and releases them from the body of sin. They do not have to wait until the return of His Son to be relieved from the suffering of this present age.
Death is the last enemy to be destroyed. This is comfort for believers in Christ. Those who die in the Lord can be assured that death is the last enemy. It will be destroyed. On the last day the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised. Death will have no dominion over any of God’s children. No child of the Lord will ever die again. The day is coming when the last enemy will be destroyed. God will be with His people and will wipe every tear from their eyes. On that day all God’s children will rejoice together in what has been accomplished for them through Jesus Christ.

Makes one wonder just how free Adam and Eve lived in the Garden before they sinned, and what it will be when we go with Him and no longer have that stench about us as we do in this world. What will it be like with clean and clear life that we have never yet known? I ponder that sometimes.

Adam and Eve only had one rule...
Rule #1. Don’t eat it.
I suppose the “urge” was like someone who’s trying to loose weight.
Imagine just one bite did us all in!
What Adam and Eve shared was not an apple. They partied in a fig grove. Hence all the various lessons regarding the fig tree. Fig leaves phrase is still used in modern time describing something hidden.

Well, that just seems to be our nature. You tell someone “Don’t look behind you, but there is a crazy looking guy over there” and the first thing they do is turn around and look. Or you say “don’t open this box” and they won’t be able to stop wondering “what’s in the box?” until they open it.
Thankfully God figured out a way to conquer that nature!

Well it does appear that Eve was tempted....which until satan was thrown out of heaven that wasn’t possible....so our sinful nature came about after the fall wouldn’t you say?
I can know ‘that’ because we are told it was fig leaves Adam and Eve sewed together, not Apple leaves to cover their newly discovered nakedness. Genesis 3:7. Not empty words.
That doesn’t mean they ate figs. But truly I’m going no further in this because it’s silly....the fact is sin entered the world through Adams sin.
Geeeeee .. I didn’t know “sewing” needles were invented before Adam and Eve came on the scene.
The Amplified Bible says that GOD “For Adam also and for his wife the Lord God made long coats (tunics) of skins and clothed them”.
Therefore, Adam and Eve did not sew fig leaves together to clothe themselves.
I did not say they ate figs. I said they partied. And it is not silly, as it is key to understanding that parable of the fig tree Christ said to learn. But hey, each to their own, people can pick and choose what they want to discern. God had Moses put it down for cause. Yes, the acts in the garden brought forth sin. It does seem strange how many are willing to attribute the sin to plucking off an apple and consuming it. I have never ate an apple and then realized I was naked. There was also figuratively a tree called the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It had fruit too....parable of the sower.
Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew they were naked;
And they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
God had Moses write this.
