Here is yet more information, for those who miss the Rapture and are here after the event. This is for people, not any particular congregation of people. Please, think about it ...

Rapiemur and Harpazo: the Origin of the Catching Up The popular English word for the catching-up event is rapture, a word derived, as are so many English words, from the Latin language. In fact, when St. Jerome, who lived from approximately 347 to 419 AD, penned the Latin Vulgate translation of scripture, he used the verb rapiemur in I Thessalonians 4:17 as follows: I The 4:17 Deinde nos qui vivimus qui relinquimur simul rapiemur [suddenly caught up] cum illis in nubibus obviam Domino in aera et sic semper cum Domino erimus.
I The 4:17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up [rapiemur] together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
Rapiemur is derived from the root verb rapio, which means to carry off or to seize someone or something. The English words rapt and rapture stem from this Latin verb. Therefore, the English term rapture was appropriately borrowed from the Latin Vulgate as a description of what will happen at that moment based on I Thessalonians 4:17. The Greek term for suddenly caught up is harpazo, which means to seize or snatch up something suddenly with great force without the consent of the owner. The specific usage of the verb in I Thessalonians 4:17 is harpagesometha, the future passive indicative tense. Compare the transliterated Greek to the English translation below:
I The 4:17 epeita hemeis oi zontes hoi perileipomenoi hama sun autois harpagesometha [suddenly caught up] en nephelais eis apantesin tou kuriou eis aera kai houtos pantote sun kurio esometha I The 4:17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up [harpagesometha] together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
The verb harpazo is used a total of 17 times in the New Testament in a variety of ways, with several referring to the sudden nonconsensual seizure of human beings. The purpose of the above presentation of both the Greek and Latin translation of this verse is to stress that language should not be a barrier to understanding any concept that is established in scripture. Whether a particular English word is or is not found in the Bible is not important. What is important is whether the concept is found. The original language in which the text was written reveals that the concept of the sudden catching up is valid.

Good attitude ... when one is in Christ someone can explain the ride ont he way up, if you have any questions then. But if someone is not in Christ it’s time to do something about that.

So Peter might have recommended Paul’s teachings but he couldn’t have known what Paul was teaching otherwise he would not have endorsed it.
I don`t know why it would be so hard to find a right or wrong in some ones action with out going through all of the hula hula dancing.
Should some one tell the world you are a thief unless they can prove it? I say no.
If some one else thinks it is ok to accuse some one with out proof then they can just say so, not much point in trying to cover it up.

A nice summary--have gone through the Vulgate passage myself on that, thanks to my two years of high-school Latin.
There is no excuse for the sponsors of Jorome's much-used work in other areas to back-water on the use of the Latin-derived English term for harpadzo regarding the disappearance of God's children, together with their glorified bodies, as well as the Holy Ghost with them, from this earthly sphere likely in the near future.
Sadly, those who do not believe in the rapture of the Bride and her friends probably won't be participating.

That is true but the issue here is that even if Peter did what he was accused of his accuser was just as wrong because of the way he went about it.
And the reason this is an issue is because some one feels they have to put peter down by saying Paul had to correct peter.

There is even one posting that believes the restrainer of 2 Thess 2 is satan! It boggles the mind ... but is not a surprise this deep into the Laodicean age.

The central issue is what we mean by 'the saved'. The born from above in whom God's Holy Spirit dwells not, not in some future, but now, they are in Christ. The body of believers are suffering all over the world. But this is thew suffering inflicted by humans on each other. The Tribulation is about God's wrath upon a world which has chosen to not believe and have His life in them in the now. I do not believe God has appointed believers with His life in them to suffer His wrath. He has promised to take them out before the hour of the testing arrives, and then the man of sin, the lawless one is revealed. It is upon a world where God's restraint has been removed so the man of sin can be revealed that the wrath is poured out in increasing degrees.
There is a very good thoelogical reason for the Rapture. During the Church Age there is no differnetiation between Jew and Gentiel, all are saved by Grace believing inJesus as The Savior and Lord. All without distinction who are saved have God's indwelling spirit in them ... without regard to religion, race, national origins, sex, or sexual orientation. The believers are His Chruch and He is going to do what He promised the disciples in John 14, He is coming in the clouds to take away those who have died in Him and thsoe who are alive at that time, to take them back to the place He has prepared for them/us.
The Church is in Heaven when the scrolls are opened by the lamb. The Church returns at the end of the Great Tribulation with The Lord Jesus Christ in His kingly role.

"I do not believe
God has appointed believers with His life in them to suffer His wrath." "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thess 5:9)
"He has promised to take them out before the hour of the testing arrives,"
"Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth." (Rev 3:10)..."For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." (Psalm 27:5)
"and then the man of sin, the lawless one is revealed. It is upon a world where God's restraint has been removed so the man of sin can be revealed that the wrath is poured out in increasing degrees."
.."...strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." (Heb 5:14)..."Ye are the salt of the earth..." (Mat 5:13).

What has
Exodus 19:3-5 (
"... how I bare you on eagles wings, and brought you unto myself ...") taught you ?
How did the Israelites travel then ?
When .you "Flee" an area, is it not called
"FLIGHT" ?
What about
Matthew 24:15-21 (
" ... then let them which be in Judæa flee..." ) ?
IF your
"flight" is going to be by "SUPERNATURAL MEANS", why would you have to Pray ?
Matthew 24:29-31("And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet,
and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." )
COMES AFTER
(" ... and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven:and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn ... ")
So that doesn't leave your
"Belief" much time.
IN THE AIR ... IN THE CLOUDS ...(" ... then we which are alive and remainshall be caught up together with them in the clouds,to meet the Lord in the air ... ")
From what I know about the atmosphere, that's approximately less than 50,000 feet from sea level, generally.
And
then what ?
Back to
"HIS FEET ... UPON" the mount of Olives.

And WHERE did God protect Moses and Aaron, and the Israelites so they would
"not suffer the destroyer" ?
God protected them IN THAT TIME OF TROUBLE,
IN THEIR HOMES !
How wil HE
keep thee from the hour of temptation ?
With
a little knowledge and a strong spirit, NOT OF DENIAL, will He keep us.
If you want to learn MORE about a
"place of safety", take a close look at
Psalm 91.
IF we OBEY GOD, and DO WHAT he COMMANDS, WHEN HE COMMANDS, the He protects us,
and most of the time, He protects us WHERE WE LIVE .
So read again
Luke 21:16-18 and
I Corinthians 10:13, as well as
Matthew 24:36-42.
It does NOT MATTER HOW, OR WHERE YOU ARE, because if God has determined He must supernaturally PROTECT YOU from the terrible times,
HE WILL DO IT !

That is how He keeps us IN the hour of temptation,He says He will keep us FROM the hour.
"...most of the time, He protects us WHERE WE LIVE ."
Most of the time.
"It does NOT MATTER HOW, OR WHERE YOU ARE, because if God has determined He must supernaturally PROTECT YOU from the terrible times, HE WILL DO IT !"
To that I say Amen!

On rereading an ealier post I note I didn't explain what I meant by quoting Hebrews 5:14 and Matthew 5:13
It was in relation to the 'restrainer'.
Assuming "strong meat" is deep Spiritual truth and salt is a restrainer of decay when used on meat,it makes me think the body of believers is the retrainer.
grace and peace to you both

"... why then did He remove Lot and his family?"
The WHY is obvious.
But the
HOW is more relevant to the subject of this thread.
Read it:
" ... And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters;the Lord being merciful unto him:
and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said,Escape for thy life;
look not behind thee,
neither stay thou in all the plain;
escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. ... "
They
"FLED" on their feet.
