Romans 1: 20 - 32
BibleHub ^ | 56 AD | St. Paul

Posted on 06/26/2015 7:04:59 AM PDT by Servant of the Cross

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

One way that I interpret this is the homosexuality is a sign that someone has rejected God and, therefore, God has “given them over” to their sinful lusts.

There are a number of other passages that make it clear to me, but I cannot fathom that any Christian can read this and conclude that the homosexual lifestyle and homosexual marriage even should remotely be sanctioned and practiced by any Christian denomination.

This interpretation and conclusion is without malice on my part. God loves them. But it really boils down to this: God is sovereign and incapable of sin and HE makes the rules, not man,

“May God have mercy on US.”

May the Most Holy God and Creator of Natural Law destroy the US and put an end to this sinful society, in His time.

Things aren’t falling apart, they are coming together.

Excellent Scripture - this is the progression that God lays out. What He does is let us experience the full effect of our actions.

“Even so come, Lord Jesus.”

So ready to be taken out of here, by Rapture or by death.

The Progressive Movement vs Christianity.

Man vs God.

Articulated by Paul here in chapter 1 of Romans.

The beauty of this passage is in verse 20, where Paul notes that man sees the obvious, with his own eyes, and knows in his mind what is truth and what is false, what is right and what is wrong, and nevertheless chooses to reject truth, goodness, and God.

How else can one explain the wide acceptance and legitimization of man on man butt sex, and girl on girl amorous sexual coupling.

How else can one explain the wide acceptance of the view that men and women are equivalent creatures, not only in plumbing but in the makeup of mind and emotion.

How else can one explain the wide acceptance of the view that man has modified the climate, and must act to change the climate again.

Paul speaks of the Progressive movement here in Romans 1. The Secular, Progressive, Humanist movement. Which, at its core, is the effort to reject God and replace God with man and self.

Not just in the areas of human sexuality, but in all manners of humanity and nature.

God save us.

As a Christian, I don't expect non-believers to live in accordance to scripture. It just isn't realistic. Non-believers need Jesus, but until they accept him, they obviously won't listen to his word.

So that is why, to me, the most important verse in this section is verse 32. It speaks to those that know the scriptures:

and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

May God have mercy on US.

Speaking corporately here, not personally:

Why should He? We've turned our backs on Him.

We need to turn back to Him before He'll have mercy on the US.

BINGO! What happened to Israel when they got into delivering their children to Molech?

It’s a sign that they have fallen into self-serving sin. The fact that the world celebrates their sin puts them in grave peril.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

"It speaks to those that know the scriptures"

I don't believe that is correct.

The earlier verses of Romans 1 clearly outline that all of humanity is accountable to obey God because of the evidence that creation itself provides.

No person is excused from the knowledge of God. However, Christ has provided a path to salvation through his blood, (if we choose that path**,) because we are incapable of keeping God's law.

That is why I believe that Christians only duty is to spread the truth, (both in word and deed,) about salvation through Jesus Christ. We can do what we want in the political arena but I believe the evidence proves that we are beyond a political solution.

"The Fix is In" and the enemy's time is short...

**It's really God that does the choosing although He lets us have our part... ;-)

I’m not saying that all people aren’t accountable, I’m saying that those who know the scripture are being singled out by Paul in this verse. This is a direct message to those in the Roman church who know what scripture says, claim to be adherents to the faith, and yet either participate in the debauchery around them or approve of the debauchery around them.

Often I run into Christians who think that homosexuality is fine to support because they are not homosexual but they don’t want to judge those who are. This verse makes it clear that by supporting and encouraging the lifestyle, those believers are just as guilty as those trapped in the lifestyle of homosexuality.

God save us

Only He can now I believe. This world has fallen so far into depravity that I believe it will have to be cleansed once again. I am talking the biblical type of cleansing where the good and the bad are swept up by Gods wrath and anger with us. Pray. Pray hard.

To put that another way, God does have mercy on us. He has not turned his back on the U.S., the U.S. has turned its back on him. The merciful nature of God is that he will be waiting for us if we ever turn back to him.

If you’re going to quote one of those rewritten Bibles you need to put that in the title of your post or a disclaimer.

I don't believe Romans 1 is describing the church at Rome. I believe it is assessing the Gentile world at large. Every study I have done on it confirms this. When Paul says "...although they know the ordinance of God" he's talking about the people he was just describing in the previous verses, the unbelievers of the world. Who are have been given the ordinance of God through the very creation.
