This unfunny, careless, in-your-Christian-faces comment is indicative of the inconsideration and intolerance for other FReepers' Christian beliefs that make Roman Catholicism such an arrogantly hateful, megalomaniacal sect that is getting ever more unlikeable on FR, even on Mother's Day.

This you call unfunny and careless, but have no problem with someone starting a thread as a in-your-face disrespect to Mary. I was not trying to be funny, Mary is my spiritual mother and I love and wish her Happy Mother's Day.

The point is I do not care what you believe, I do not care that you think the Catholic faith is wrong, I do not care what you say, I and other Catholics have reasoned explanations for what we believe and they have been so for 2000 years. What hurts me, is not the jabs or the disrespect shown to Catholics, it's the disrespect shown to God and Mary, Jesus's mother.

If God demanded the Ark of the Covenant be spotless, perfect, and undefiled to hold just the word of God, why would you think He would not except a more perfect vessel for the Son of God to be born in. And if Moses's Ark of the Covenant was to be revered and exulted, why then would not the new Ark of the Covenant, Mary, not be revered and exulted in the same way?

I have said all that I will say on this blasphemous thread. Whether you believe it or not you are disrespecting God and Mary.

First, we have no injunction to remember Mary in this capacity.

Next, we do not have this recognition of Mary anywhere in the NT. It is drawn from allegory and is one of the worst forms of hermeneutics as it leads to false understandings as this one espoused by catholicism.

No.

We will call her blessed as noted in Luke's text.....but none of the accolades that catholicism gives to her.

If I thought there was the slightest chance you knew what you were posting about, I would be concerned about your personal judgments. Your post that I'm responding to is un-Christian in attitude yet is very recognizably Catholic in its tone and wording, once again delineating between that which is Christian and that which is only Roman Catholic.

Why do we think Mary was sinful? Because she was human and for Jesus to share fully in our humanity, He had to live as a human from conception to death, and that includes living in an imperfect family with imperfect parents.

It would be no big deal to live in a home with perfect parents.

Jesus was tempted in every way, just as we are and was without sin.

He could not have been tempted in every way as we are if God sheltered Him and protected Him form the results of the fall by orchestrating His circumstances to protect Him from what we all endure.

Mary is NOT the ark. That would be Jesus, His body containing the second person of the Trinity.

She did NOT need to be perfect and nobody is disrespecting her by stating the truth about her. And that truth is found in Scripture, not in the vain imaginings and fantasies about her concocted by sin cursed men.

This thread is not blasphemous.

Blasphemy is against God.

Mary is not God so it is impossible to blaspheme her.

It isn’t blasphemy just because someone disagrees with Catholicism.

How would you feel if your mother was treated so horribly.

What hurts me, is not the jabs or the disrespect shown to Catholics, it's the disrespect shown to God and Mary, Jesus's mother.

I have seen this often, but just where is this horrible treatment disrespect shown to God and Mary, rather than reproving the extra-Scriptural and unScriptural exaltation of Mary "above that which is written," (1Co. 4:6) which is disrespect shown to God and Mary?

Debate the issues, and substantiate your charges, rather than engaging in ambiguous complaining.

How would you feel if some random blokes began to worship your mother as a deity over and above the true God of the universe, requiring the ignorant hordes to bow and scrape before her alter in order to gain mercy from God?

Which one?

The Biblical Mary or the Roman one?
