Yes, Thermochimica Acta is ONE peer reviewed journal. [Although you did NOT cite the source when you quoted the paper.]

Yes I did. . . from my original post to you on this post.

"This was published: "Studies on the radiocarbon sample from the shroud of turin", Raymond N. Rogers, Los Alamos National Laboratory, University of California, 1961 Cumbres Patio, Los Alamos, NM 87544, USA Thermochimica Acta 425 (2005) 189–194

There are a lot more. Try researching it on your own. You throw out bricks without even reading. Then I realized you've pulled this with me before on the same subject. . . and you never accept anything, no matter how much proof is presented. So sorry. I am not going to jump through your hoops, play your skeptical games with you, or do your work for you.

Nevertheless, the Thermochimica Acta paper has been roundly criticized.

Just because you can find some scientists who criticize a paper, does not mean that it is wrong. They cannot falsify the findings that the materials are there. . . One side of the sample is Cotton, and the other side is Linen. The fact is that the samples are NOT homogenous even in their own consistency much less homogenous to the main body of the Shroud.

Statistically, the 1988 C-14 tests fail both the Chi^2 test and the F test for consistency. . . and there was deliberate changing of some of the results to push them into even that level of compliance. I provided you links to the math so you could replicate it yourself from the raw data that was finally provided after trying to get it for two years. That math has been checked and replicated numerous times. . . and it does NOT support the consistency of the samples.

Here's some help on your search (Note that many of these were published in PEER REVIEWED scientific and scholarly journals!):

This included tests based on polarized light microscopy before 1980, which proved that there is no blood on "The Shroud," and that the colors found on "The Shroud" were nothing more than paints common in the 14th century. These tests were confirmed in 1981 using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray determinations. The "blood" elements present on "The Shroud" were iron, mercury and sulfur common in the two paints found by earlier investigators.

I just knew you were going to trot out Walter C. McCrone and his idiotic polarized light microscope and tempera paints. . . which have NEVER been replicated by any other scientist looking at any Shroud blood or image samples or in situ, including his own Electron Microscope specialists. There was no vermilion (HgS) found in the blood areas on the Shroud. no significant sulfur found, no significant Mercury found, no tempera residues (McCrone even announced it was a 10% dilute solution! Eery chemist has stated categorically there is absolutely no way one could determine the saturation of any solution after it has dried, yesterday, 700 or 2000 years later! LOL!) and while there was Iron Oxide in the blood stains, it is in the organic form, and was from the blood itself. I am afraid that THREE world renowned experts in blood fractions and blood methemoglobin TRUMP your microscopist and his claiming to see tempera paint. . . especially as his story changed depending on when he told it.

I'll take the same aside as you. . . Bishops Henri of Portier's letter was never sent. The only copy ever found was a draft letter in the Portier's files and no copy has ever been found in the far more comprehensive Vatican files. Henri had his own interest in protecting the income of his Cathedral and the pilgrims coming to see his relics. The record shows that the Chapel at Lirey did not accept donations from Pilgrims and in fact Geoffrey de Charney bankrupted his family in supporting the chapel.

X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray determinations showed exactly the opposite of what you are claiming. If you have such evidence, post the links. . . I know you can't because they don't exist. Just more lies from the skeptics. . . who have never had any samples to test except those that McCrone had in his possession and refused to pass on, referring to them as "His samples". They were finally physically and forcibly retrieved by the STURP leadership.

McCrone himself said he was "determined to prove the Shroud a fraud by the use of his optical microscope," and refused to allow his Electron Microsope group to have access to the samples until way late.

"By January 1980 [i.e., by about 1 year after receiving Shroud slides], I had prepared two technical papers for publication.... Only then, did I allow the electron optics group at McCrone Associates to examine the “Shroud” fibers and tapes. I prevented them from doing this earlier because I (selfishly) wished to see polarized light microscopy solve the “Shroud” problem without assistance."70
Instead, the people who did run those tests using equipment so sensitive that it could discern the chemical make up of the vinyl baggies the threads had be transported in, so accurate the testers could discern the MAKE of those baggies from that chemical composition, found NO signs of any pigments, no HgS, no tempera, no lead, nothing except the natural elements expected to be found in Linen. . . and the coating of the starches on the fibers. Any foreign pigments would have stuck out like red flags. . . and the spikes they would have formed were simply NOT THERE.

McCrone is a microscopist, not a specialist in old blood. . . but Heller and Adler are specialist in their fields. McCrone and other skeptic investigators never got their old blood into solution because they did not know how; Adler and Heller, being specialists and experts in their fields did know how.

When Adler and Heller did their test with a Zeiss microspectrophotometer, they were looking for a very specific wavelength that is absorbed only by blood porphyrins: 410 nanometers. Red Ocher, Albumin, egg or other wise, and tempera, nor Vermillion will absorb anywhere near there, only blood porphyrins. The blood on the shroud samples spiked at exactly 410 nanometers. They proceeded to perform more than 40 different specific tests for blood, blood descendants, hemoglobins, blood fractions, immunological surveys, and even DNA fractions. ALL POSITIVE for blood. You do NOT get all of those tests positive with tempera paint or any other kind of paint, Fred, in fact, Fred, you will get ZERO positive results. ZERO not forty!

These findings HAVE been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. . . and McCrone only published in his own vanity magazine "The Microscopist" edited by Walter C. McCrone, published by McCrone Associates.

The Adler and Heller tests have been replicated by other scientists over the many years since they did them in 1980, while not ONE single scientists has been able to replicate McCrone's microscope findings. Not one. No pigments have been found in the image areas of the Shroud that rise to the level of visibility. . . and while there are some pigments on the Shroud, they are environmental deposits, spread randomly on the Shroud with no concentrations in any image or non-image areas and bear no statistical relationship to the image or blood areas. These are indisputable facts, Fred.

The fact is we now know what the image is made of, and it is not paint of any kind or any pigments. It is a caramelizing discoloration of the saccharide starch fractions left on the surface individual fibers of the flax when it was retted with a soapwort plant extract before it was even spun into yarn before weaving into a cloth. That coating is about the thickness of a soap bubble, 100 nanometers thick, and the coloring is a melanoidin reaction which can be caused by many factors including age, heat, chemical change, radiation, high intensity light exposure, gaseous exudation, or unknown causes. Whatever modality formed the caramelization of only that portion of the coating acted in a completely vertically collimated vector, upwards and downwards, with apparently little to no error in any other vector and completely attenuated within 5 to 10 centimeters from the body.

McCrone's findings have been falsified multiple times. . . and in peer-reviewed literature.

Virtually none of those are peer reviewed. Scientific American, National Geographic, Science News, Science Digest and Letters written to peer reviewed Journals do not constitute peer reviewed research.

WOW! Another one of your lies. You cherry picked out the few that may not be from that list. . . try this selection of journals instead, also from that list, the vast majority of these ARE Peer-reviewed scientific or scholarly journals, unlike your cherry picked popular journals. . . (Journals marked with an asterisk are skeptical journals):

What does God say... the nations are as nothing in His balance, they are less than nothing...

All this pomposity is heading down the wrong spiritual road and misses why Christ did the things which many conclude left behind the Shroud as artifact. A supernatural artifact is difficult to vet because now you are dealing with a potential suite of actors beyond any human skill known. The “Christ then” means nothing unless He is also a “Christ now.”

It reminds me of the folks who get all engrossed in the bible codes to find their treasures of status if not of worldly wealth, and care not a whit for the redemptive plan of God for rank sinners, which are all of us.

Well done Swordmaker, well done. Thank you, As science progresses in time, the Shroud reveals more.

I notice a certain atheist has not bothered to show his face here trying to misrepresent the facts again. . . He thinks he could pull the wool over our eyes by claiming something right in front of our faces is something it is not. Three times, no less. He’s been hoist on his own petard, quite highly, I think. I’d like to see him try to say those scientists are “pseudoscientists” and those peer-reviewed scientific and scholarly journals are not peer-reviewed. LOL!
