The bishops “expectations among the faithful are very high” that the Church will approve new policies. And the bishops recall the decision of their own episcopal conference to endorse a policy allowing divorced and remarried Catholics to receive Communion. In a separate report, the German bishops’ conference has released the results of a survey that found more than half (54%) of the country’s Catholic priests go to confession no more than once a year, and only 58% of German priests report that they pray every day.

Gee, do you think that the two could be connected? (/sarc)

ROTFL ya think?

Same old, same old. The Germans maybe want yet another Reformation?

Poorly catechized no doubt.

Families that fall short? We all fall short. That is why we have Reconciliation. That is why we pray for Gods’ grace and mercy.

These Heretical bishops lead by the ultimate heretic Kasper need to be removed from pastoral service if not outright excommunicated with elimination of salary, benefits and living condition. Let them found their own heretical church.

42% of Priests don’t pray every day? That is the shocking take-away to me.

When was strict adherence to the Word of G-d ever popular?

Yeah, let’s teach that the gate to Heaven is not strait, but wide and wide open, anybody can get there with no trouble. That sort of teaching will be popular.

And what are the German bishops doing to teach their flock the true faith?

The German “Church” should have been disbanded years ago and become protestant because that’s all they are.

Very, very sad to hear, if entirely true.

May God rekindle the fire of their vocation and a return to orthodoxy for all of the ordained of Germany!

Before I officially left the RC, I remained active in many "ministries"

One time I had a meeting of a committee at my home..the associate pastor was present.. during the discussion he admitted he rarely prayed.. I was taken aback by that "public" admission.. but to be honest my guess is the numbers might be the same for protestant pastors..

Back in Cardinal Mahoney’s day at the LA archdiocese, there were priests at the chancery office who could never be bothered to offer daily mass for the employees. A few priests served in this manner, over and over again. As to the others, there were some who didn’t have any parish responsibilities and just worked at the chancery. It was unclear when, if ever, those guys said mass. (according to my friend at the chancery).
Now, the new archbishop Gomez has replaced a lot of people, so this may well have changed. He tends to hire priests who like to be priestly.

And you guys really think these men are speaking for/as God in confession...
