Actually our new FRiend Eucharista is quite correct.
It all goes back to Mrs. Don-o’s post 287. Just because when Catholics ask for intercessory prayer from the Saints it takes the form of prayer, doesn’t mean it’s any different than if I were to ask you, or any other Christian to pray for me.
The prayers to the Saints are simply requests for them to intercede on our behalf, no less “un-Scriptual” than asking someone on Earth to pray for us.
And it’s certainly not “un-Scriptual” to venerate those who are worthy of honor, as I have demonstrated.
But you apparently subscribe to the idea of “soul sleep” so I guess this point is moot to you.
Thanks but I just got one last Thursday when the nice JW lady stopped by. Thankfully my one year old grandson picked that exact time to have a tricycle wreck in the driveway requiring me to scoop him up and rush into the house.
Thank you.
Actually, in fact, for a certainty....everyone must determine for themselves what is and is not true. Non-Catholics choose to trust in their own faculties and fallible cognitive abilities, whereas Catholics choose to trust in the Magisterium of the Church preserved from error by the Paraclete. Again, I am not here to convince or convert you nor am I here to debate.
Actually, you are the one demonstrating "bluster" at this moment. Eucharista did indeed post something "pertaining to what" I posted. In post 341. Read it yourself.
The problem with your assertion is that these are not dubious statements.
They are consistent with official catholic teachings regarding Mary.
All of the "dubious" quotes provided are from people who the catholic church would consider to be doctors, saints or other reputable people in catholicism.
As I noted earlier this is the problem with catholic tradition. All of these guys could claim they received their authority from the apostles. How can you deny it?
I know these quotes must sting. If I were catholic they would make me re-evaluate what I believe.
The telling part is that no one has denied these as legit statements or the writers of these statements or positions of catholicism regarding Mary. They are from catholic websites.
There were two ladies in the car, and the one doing the visit.
My daughter said the visit lady is on some type of apprenticeship.
Cult.
You’re welcome.
Now, before “devotion” is mischaracterizewd it is the disposition of will to do promptly what concerns the worship and service of God. Although devotion is primarily a disposition or attitude of the will, acts of the will that proceed from such disposition are also expressions of devotion. Essential to devotion is readiness to do whatever gives honor to God, whether in public or private prayer (worship) or in doing the will of God (service). A person who is thus disposed is said to be devoted. His devotedness is ultimately rooted in a great love for God, which in spiritual theology is often called devotion. (Etym. Latin devotio, state, act, or expression of being devoted; from devovere, to vow.)
Nor getting off to a good start.
Not a way to make a good first impression.
It’s staggering and yet Catholics STILL insist that they don’t deify Mary.
Discuss the issues only, but do not make it personal.
In discussions on this board "cult" never means a good thing.
Nope. That was an example on how to pray. I say prayers from my heart.
