Many do not realize the Dr. Martin Luther King studied Bonhoeffer and Mahatma Gandhi. King realized that he could forward the Black cause using Bonhoeffer Christianity but non-violence of Gandhi. He came to this conclusion because he determined that America, much like the English who ruled India, was a moral nation. Thus he could employ nonviolence and persuasion like Gandhi. Unlike Bonhoeffer who came to realize violence as a tool because the Nazi's were not moral.

Bonhoeffer also attend Riverside Church, the liberal cesspool "shepherded" by Harry Emerson Fosdick.

Luckily he wandered to other churches that helped keep him from wallowing in that mire.

When my fellow Christians start whining about the persecution and oppression they face at the hands of the gummint and gaystapo, I always think of Bonhoeffer. Especially when I think of just how little we are doing to fight them at personal cost to ourselves.

There’s a Bonhoeffer play, “Bonhoeffer: The Last Encounter”(bunburytheatre.org) playing here in Louisville from April 9-26, I’m hoping to see.
