Imagine being Jesus’s brother and having a Jewsih mother (I am assuming Mary was Jewish here).
“Look at your older brother he can make people rise from the dead, and look at you, have you turned water into wine yet, well have you?”
Having to grow up with that and not cracking up is the definition of a Saint!
The Greek proves Mary and Joseph had other children.
Catholic postings remind me of labels on shampoo. Apply, rinse, repeat.
Mary accepted the angel's proposal - Joseph agreed to honor the marriage after the fact.
It is the opposite. the broader sense of brother is biological. The brotherhood Christ talked about was very specific to following his teachings. Thus having biological siblings was key to make His point that even if biological, if they do not follow His ways and are not trustworthy, they are not His brothers. Eventually God protected Mary from such rape, one must surmise, yet it does not prevent the Bible from criticizing Mary at times, with Jesus calling her woman.
Jews in the Sinai became bastards in the eyes of God and God cleansed them by making them wander, teaching the new generations the holy ways, saving them with spirit, bearing the new generation with positive spirit.
The Catholics might have a point that Mary’s virginity was protected, but that is not the point. Jesus Himself was crucified and others would be treated worse.
First, there is not reference to Peter being the "chief apostle" in scripture. In fact when asked "who is greatest" He clearly indicated there was none.
Second, we know there were many women named Mary and many men named James. We also know that within the ekklesia men are referred to as brothers at times. Children on the other hand are never referred to as brothers other than blood brothers, so when Jesus was still a child and His brothers and sisters were referenced it would not be anything other than blood brothers and blood sisters. Nothing in the article can be used to prove Jesus did not have blood brothers and sisters.
Third, the writer of the article totally ignores the fact that scripture also tells us that Jesus also had sisters.
The Catholics will say they are brothers like fraternity brothers.
Just curious here...let’s assume that Mary and Joseph had children after the birth of Jesus, and I understand that Jesus perhaps had as many as four half-brothers and two half-sisters, right? All of these would have been younger than Jesus. Assuming that they didn’t all die before Jesus died on the cross, why should Jesus have John take Mary into his home? Again, just curious. I guess I’d sort of assume that at least one of these six other children would have written something about his or her life growing up in the house with the Messiah. To me, this question causes me some degree of confusion because some assumptions are being made without any scriptural evidence. How does one reconcile these two seeming contradictions?
This is the deception which is so prevalent in the Catholic religion...
Mat 27:55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
Mat 27:56 Among which was (1) Mary Magdalene, and (2) Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the (3) mother of Zebedee's children.
There are 3 women here...Two of them are named Mary...The 3rd is not named except to say her husband was Zebedee...And of course we have Jesus' sisters to contend with which no Catholic will touch...
Uh...
...because He did?
Rome sure does!
And by doing so offends the very thing that GOD created.

If the marriage was never consummated, can Joseph apply for an annulment?
MY Bible never says she remained a virgin! Jesus had MANY brothers and sisters. Ever heard of his brother JAMES???? He IS mentioned in the Bible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The word, in the Greek, is Adelphos. There were no words in Aramaic for uncle, cousin, any kind of near relative, they were all referred to as “brethren” or “brothers”. When it was put into Greek, they used the same word for everything, even though there are different Greek words for brother, cousin, uncle, etc.
The word used in Biblical Greek that is translated as brothers in English is Adelphos:
Adelphos: denotes a brother, or near kinsman; in the plural, a community based on identity of origin or life. It is use of:
1. male children of the same parents . . .
2. male descendants of the same parents (Acts 7:23, 26; Hebrews 7:5)
3. people of the same nationality (Acts 3:17, 22; Romans 9:3)
4. any man, a neighbor (Luke 10:29; Matthew 5:22, 7:3)
5. persons united by a common interest (Matthew 5:47)
6. persons united by a common calling (Revelation 22:9)
7. mankind (Matthew 25:40; Hebrews 2:17)
8. the disciples, and so, by implication, all believers (Matthew 28:10; John 20:17)
9. believers, apart from sex (Matthew 23:8, Acts 1:15; Romans 1:13; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; Revelation 19:10
In the King James Version, Jacob is called the “brother” of his Uncle Laban (Gen. 20:15; 29:10). The same thing occurs with regard to Lot and Abraham (Gen. 14:14; 11:26-27). The Revised Standard Version uses “kinsman at 29:15 and 14:14.
