Ex-Catholics as well. Haters of Catholicism will always be here. May God bless them: for our part, let’s continue our discussion.

Then do don’t be in communion with us. I don’t remember anyone telling you that you had to be a Catholic or go to hell. I’m very happy being a Catholic. I would love for you to join me in communion. But if you do not then that is between you and Jesus.

Mr. Mercat and I spent a couple of years in the Unitarian Church before I came home. We liked the pastor who called himself high church. But I did not enjoy the ex-Catholics who felt that they needed to get me to say amen to their hatred of the Church. I think that there are people who are damaged in their childhood by religion. I did get whooped by my sixth grade nun but here I am, happy to say the rosary.

"All the others except John deserted Jesus at the time of His Passion. Yes, I am sad to say, only one priest, one bishop made it to the foot of the Cross. All the rest fled in fear. "

John, the youngest, stood with Our Lady at the foot of the Cross. Look back, everyone, and think of your teen years. Kids get so influenced by the media, by peers, all kinds of counter-productive activities often resulting in serious sin.

Enter John. Imagine spending your most formative years "hanging out" with Jesus and then His Mother. John's life as a young man at an age when kids do things without worrying about the consequences led him to stay at the Foot of the Cross, looking out for Mary.

May God give our priests, and us, that kind of courage to stand unabashedly at the Foot of the Cross with the same love and courage, purity and concern!

God bless you!

"So you have declared yourself God? Wouldn’t that make you the anti Christ?"

Totally uncalled-for. 👎

...some guy in a robe handing out crackers."

Again, totally unnecessary. It's extremely difficult to assume good intentions with such remarks spewed that way.

Guess you’ll find out in the hereafter, meanwhile, proverbs warns against being too sure you are right. Best tone it down, bub.

Tradition does not count."

Honestly, Mama, to a Catholic it does. We refer to it as Sacred and treasure it, as the Jews do the Talmud.

Nice to hear from you, and God bless you!

Amen! Prayers up for all our brethren in humanity, especially our leaders in faith. Thanks for the posts!

Welcome home to both of you! I never understood why some feel the need either. When people come to my door, I tell them the truth: I respect the fact that they have the courage to do that. I really do. Those poor people must get so mistreated sometimes. I mention that I do wish that they would eliminate the anti-Catholicism in their literature. Proclaim your faith: but one’s faith should not depend on finding fault with another’s. With one exception, I can honestly say I never had a problem- and I say up front that I’m a Catholic. It’s just a matter of mutual respect for one another as people.

Hey, had to go back to my regular eye dr today. My surgeon is out of town. I woke up this morning and my right eye and the area around it really hurt. It is really swollen. I sent my daughter a picture of it and she said it was from my seasonal allergies. Reminds me. Need to take a Benadryl. : )

I give you credit: if I were young and had to be in a Passion play, I think it would be tough playing Judas. Also, I may not agree, but it’s really nice of you to give Judas the benefit of the doubt. My take: I think Judas had himself in what he may have thought was a win-win position: if Jesus was the Messiah, he would be the guy who got Jesus to reveal Himself as such; if not, he would be a hero for exposing a false Messiah. It backfired. I think there was a lack of true contrition for what he’d done. The Sanhedrin had no respect for him, he was a traitor in the eyes of those who loved Jesus, and was ruined. Was he sorry about himself, or about what he did to Jesus? Of he were sorry for the right reasons, I believe Jesus would have forgiven him for the betrayal, the embezzling and his suicide as well. He despaired and didn’t ask for forgiveness, at least not for the right reasons... Jesus said he would have been better off if he’d never been born... Just my thoughts...

Mama, if that doesn't help, please try again to give the doc a call-you might want to have him look at it anyway. If you can, I know it's rough with your eye swollen, but please let me know how you're doing! I'll keep you in special prayer! God bless you always!

I did see my regular eye dr today. I called the surgeon’s office to see what they wanted me to do since Dr. L was out of town. I know it is allergy related because I have been sneezing my head off plus I have a runny nose. I just did not think about that until my daughter reminded me. Just about everyone who lives here in this valley have allergy/sinus problems even my sil who is from MN. Back in the 1800’s, the Indians called this, “valley of illness.”. They were right. Thanks.

That wasn’t “grasping at straws” verga. For a true believer Christ dwells within 24/7/365 and that isn’t affected by orally ingesting some unleavened cracker.

This goes right along with that famous phrase, 'we don't pray to Mary'...

Bernadine: …all gifts, all virtues, and all graces are dispensed by the hands of Mary to whomsoever, when, and as she pleases. O Lady, since thou art the dispenser of all graces, and since the grace of salvation can ONLY come through thy hands, OUR SALVATION DEPENDS ON THEE.

Bonaventure: …the gates of heaven will open to all who confide in the protection of Mary. Blessed are they who know thee, O Mother of God, for the knowledge of THEE is the high road to everlasting life, and the publication of thy virtues is the way of ETERNAL SALVATION . Give ear, O ye nations; and all you who desire heaven , serve, honor Mary, and certainly you will find ETERNAL LIFE.

Ephem: …devotion to the divine Mother…is the unlocking of the heavenly Jerusalem.

Blosius: To the, O Lady, are committed the KEYS and the treasures of the kingdom of Heaven.

Ambrose: …constantly pray ‘Open to us, O Mary, the gates of paradise, since thou hast its KEYS.

Fulgetius: …by Mary God descended from Heaven into the world, that by HER man might ascend from earth to Heaven.

Athanasius: …And, thou, O Lady, wast filled with grace, that thou mightiest be the way of our SALVATION and the means of ascent to the heavenly Kingdom.

Richard of Laurence: Mary, in fine, is the mistress of heaven; for there she commands as she wills, and ADMITS whom she wills.

Guerric: …he who serves Mary and for whom she intercedes, is as CERTAIN of heaven as if he were already there…and those who DO NOT serve Mary will NOT BE SAVED.

Anselm: It suffices, O Lady, that thou willest it, and our SALVATION is certain.

Antoninus: …souls protected by Mary, and on which she casts her eyes, are NECESSARILY JUSTIFIED AND SAVED.
