Are you Catholic (I already know the answer since I read your profile page)? Since the answer I know is no, why do you care what the Catholics believe? You and a couple other posters seem to believe your faiths can only be justified if you attack Catholics. AND I know I’m going to hear from those - why stop by this thread? And it is my last post to this thread but I’m saddened that someone who is filled with such venom can only find relief by attacking the faith of others.

When I see Catholic threads it usually doesn’t take long until I see you and your compatriots attacking people on those threads too. I hope God has mercy on your soul!

Ya know, I hope God has mercy on ALL our souls! The last thing I want for anyone (most of all myself) is justice.

I think all the anti-Catholic bigots on Free Republic are really left wing phonies trying to create division amongst Conservatives and Freepers.

I can answer that one!

The "attacks" usually come from the Romanists, when confronted with clear Scripture refuting the heresies and abominations of the largest cult in the history of the world. There are not normally ANY personal attacks as they are not allowed.

It hurts when you see that anything you have been taught is a lie. When it is consolidated into a realization that you cannot refute with anything except claims of "tradition", not finding any of those "traditions" based in the Word of God, then it is normal to lash out. We see the Romanists doing that with cries of foul and claims of personal attacks!

But, it is incumbent of Christians to confront lies and half-truths which may hinder a non-believer from finding the Truth of God's economy. It boils down to the simplest of things. We have a relationship with God based on faith. Nothing required but faith that He is in control, not us.

Paul's letter to Timothy reveals much along that vein...

1 Timothy 4: ... 4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Why do they base their faith on being actively anti-Catholic? Why not just list your own beliefs and ignore Catholics?

I'm not Catholic, but I suppose that other forms of argumentation may be more convincing than what people call "attacks." Since Matthew 23 keeps getting quoted on the Religion Forum, seemingly as evidence of divine permission to call people "fools" more often than we probably should, I've noticed in verse 15 that even the Pharisees made a convert once in a while. Now, numbers of converts are no proof of truth, but what fruit is there from certain styles of posting?

Although you may believe you have seen that, you haven't. Someone probably told you that is the case.

RCs attack prots personally on FR Religion Forum as a matter of course. Non-RCC Christians defend the Lord Jesus Christ, the main Subject of the Holy Bible and demonstrate errors of the RCC doctrines and practices based on the Bible.

You are mistaken.

Why shouldn't non-Catholic Christians be able to post about and discuss their beliefs on the tenets of the Christian faith? There are a great many threads posted by Roman Catholics daily on the Religion Forum about the Catholic view of the Christian faith and often there is "venom" towards Protestants/Evangelicals because they don't see it the same way. Roman Catholic Freepers have said many times that Catholicism is the one, true church Jesus established and they alone can define and determine what is the truth of Christianity. Anyone who disagrees or disobeys this "settled" truth is in danger of hell unless they convert. A few have said recently that no one can be saved UNLESS they ate the flesh and drank the blood of Jesus in the Catholic Eucharist.

Isn't it equitable that non-Catholics be allowed to say why we disagree without being accused of attacking Catholics and being anti-Catholic bigots? These Catholic threads you see where we are "attacking people on those threads", is it individuals that are being personally attacked or their beliefs that are being disputed? The former is wrong and isn't supposed to go on. The latter is just part of what an OPEN Religion Forum thread should expect. Debate and discussion is actually healthy as it solidifies ones beliefs and helps them to not only know what they believe but why they believe it. Scripture calls it "iron sharpening iron". The key is to not take things personally. For those who can't help but take disagreements of their faith personally, it's better that they skip these kinds of threads all together or at least until they develop a thicker skin.

And just where have you been all these years on the RF in which i have been a regular, when RCs were posting threads attacking Prot. beliefs, which promoting Rome as the one true church also does?

Frankly, i find i rather duplicitous.

You have to take into consideration that all of these anti-Catholic posters are the same ones that don’t believe in celebrating Christmas by putting up Christmas trees, giving their kids presents from Santa, singing secular carols or going to Christmas parties. Carving a pumpkin, putting on a costume and going trick-or-treating is considered evil. So is dyeing Easter eggs and visits from the Easter bunny. If you take part in any of these things you are practicing paganism, and that’s a big no-no-. I’m not sure what their position is on eating a Thanksgiving turkey, but I’m sure they have some kind of problem with that too.

While other people are living their lives and enjoying the simple things in life they have a lot of free time on their hands with nothing better to do than attack the Catholic Church.

Because beliefs of that sort send our fellow men to Hell without hope.
