Honoring the Virgin Mary, conceived without sin as the holy vessel who would give birth to Jesus our Savior, with the title of Mother of God, does not mean that she is thought a goddess.

Who has TAUGHT you this NON-biblical stuff?

Elsie, we had lots of fun when the subject was Mormonism.

But I’ve been a Catholic all my life. Turned toward Evangelicalism in college & I have loved Bible study ever since, but the divine Presence of Christ through the sacraments at the Mass is the core of my Christian faith. I believe that Jesus bequeathed His powers of consecration & forgiveness to His apostles, from whom there is a chain of apostolic succession down to the present day.

Wouldn’t have cared two cents about Mormonism until I began to learn of the anti-Catholicism that is hardwired into the LDS church, which also refers to Protestant denominations as the “lewd daughters of Rome”. The mishies did try to convert me on my way to Vietnam, but that’s decades gone.

I don’t worship Mary the Mother of Jesus but I venerate her memory and those of the Saints whose lives are given as examples for us.

Threads like this one often degenerate into pronouncements as to who is or is not a true Christian. That led to the Thirty Years’ War among other sectarian strifes.

Christ is my Savior and I call on His Name several times daily. No prayer unto His throne has ever gone unanswered.
