Deifying Mary would be offensive to the woman who saw her son die on the cross for us.

Son, behold your mother.

Catholics, you know the love of Mary for us her children - she has demonstrated it for 2000 years. Why would Our God & Savior not make her available to her children, just as the ONE TRUE CATHOLIC HOLY APOSTOLIC CATHOLIC CHURCH has declared from day one?

Rather, ask yourselves, why after 1500 and 17 years, did some fallen individuals begin declaring that she was nothing special?

But we must remember, as I believe the Reformed tradition does, she is simply one of his disciples no better than any other believer in Christ.

St. Luke seems to disagree with you...

""My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name." (Luke 1:46-49)

St. John disagrees, too, especially in the sense that he calls Mary the mother of all Christians:

"And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron [i.e. Jesus] [...] Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus. (Revelation 12:4,17)

So... are you one who keeps the commandments of God and bears testimony to Jesus? Then congratulations! The Bible says that you're a child of Mary!

The very title ("Rejecting Mariology") is rather a gaffe. "Mariology" means the study of Mary; it doesn't imply adoration of Mary, any more than "Geology" implies adoration of the earth.

The word thr author is looking for, is "Mariolatry." "Latria" is adoration.

The Catholic Church does not offer Mary "Latria" (LINK)

We give her "Hypedulia", which means, the highest honor given to a human person, which is entirely due to what God her Savior has done for Mary, a lowly handmaid.

Luke 1 should pretty much clear that up.

Rejecting Mariology

At your PERIL!!!!!

Bernadine: …all gifts, all virtues, and all graces are dispensed by the hands of Mary to whomsoever, when, and as she pleases. O Lady, since thou art the dispenser of all graces, and since the grace of salvation can ONLY come through thy hands, OUR SALVATION DEPENDS ON THEE.

Bonaventure: …the gates of heaven will open to all who confide in the protection of Mary. Blessed are they who know thee, O Mother of God, for the knowledge of THEE is the high road to everlasting life, and the publication of thy virtues is the way of ETERNAL SALVATION. Give ear, O ye nations; and all you who desire heaven, serve, honor Mary, and certainly you will find ETERNAL LIFE.

Ephem: …devotion to the divine Mother…is the unlocking of the heavenly Jerusalem.

Blosius: To the, O Lady, are committed the KEYS and the treasures of the kingdom of Heaven.

Ambrose: …constantly pray ‘Open to us, O Mary, the gates of paradise, since thou hast its KEYS.

Fulgetius: …by Mary God descended from Heaven into the world, that by HER man might ascend from earth to Heaven.

Athanasius: …And, thou, O Lady, wast filled with grace, that thou mightiest be the way of our SALVATION and the means of ascent to the heavenly Kingdom.

Richard of Laurence: Mary, in fine, is the mistress of heaven; for there she commands as she wills, and ADMITS whom she wills.

Guerric: …he who serves Mary and for whom she intercedes, is as CERTAIN of heaven as if he were already there…and those who DO NOT serve Mary will NOT BE SAVED.

Anselm: It suffices, O Lady, that thou willest it, and our SALVATION is certain.

Antoninus: …souls protected by Mary, and on which she casts her eyes, are NECESSARILY JUSTIFIED AND SAVED.

Calling Mary “Mother of God” is deification and blasphemy. I know nothing about you or your mother. But I do know that she preceded you. A mother always come before her children. Mary is most definitely not the mother of God. She is mother of the man Jesus. God Jesus preceded her by an eternity.

Amazing how the catholics run when the light exposes their false doctrines.

None can post a reply to counter these Biblical positions.

“The Bible ALONE is the SOLE or ULTIMATE rule of faith” isn’t in the Bible.

So you should reject it Luther’s human tradition.

But you don’t.

“If he won’t listen to the church, treat him as a pagan or tax collector.” —Jesus, in the Bible

Go ahead and rationalize it.

.
It never was about “Mary,” its about Ishtar/Easter, the ‘goddess’ of intercourse and fornication.

That is the demon that answers prayers to ‘Mary.’

Protestants sometimes object to the term, “Protestant,” preferring the label, “Christian,” instead.

But their Christianity seems to consist almost entirely of protesting against Catholic doctrines and practices.

Perhaps it’s because “we’re not Catholic!” is the only doctrine all Protestants agree on, except for “Sola Scriptura.”

And to add to the irony, that tradition of Luther isn’t found in the Bible.

So I suppose if you’re anti-Catholic and adhere to Luther’s teachings, Protestantism is for you.

As for us Catholics, we will “listen to the church,” “the pillar and foundation of truth,” as Christ commanded.
