Mary didn’t appear to George Washington.

But...

...did George Washington appear to Joseph Smith, Jr.?

Mary didn’t appear to George Washington.

I straightway went into the baptismal font and called upon Brother McCallister to baptize me for the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and fifty other eminent men, making one hundred in all, including John Wesley, Columbus, and others. -Wilford Woodruff

Elsie, since you belong to a Wesleyan church, you should follow John Wesley all the way.

John Wesley had a burning in his heart when he pondered on Christ. Unfortunately the true Gospel wasn't on the earth during his time. So he did the best with the knowledge he had.

Makes me happy to know that the Lord thought enough of John Wesley to allow him to appear the prophet. Says a lot about his character.
