Bl. John Henry Newman said it best: To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant. History paints an overwhelming picture of St. Peters apostolic ministry in Rome and this is confirmed by a multitude of different sources within the Early Church. Catholic Encyclopedia states, In opposition to this distinct and unanimous testimony of early Christendom, some few Protestant historians have attempted in recent times to set aside the residence and death of Peter at Rome as legendary. These attempts have resulted in complete failure. Protestantism as a whole seeks to divorce Christianity from history by rending Gospel message out of its historical context as captured by our Early Church Fathers. One such target of these heresies is to devalue St. Peter and to twist the authority of Rome into a historical mishap within Christianity. To wit, the belief has as its end the ultimate end of all Catholic and Protestant dialogue who has authority in Christianity?
Why is it important to defend the tradition of St. Peter and Rome? The importance of establishing St. Peters ministry in Rome may be boiled down to authority and more specifically the historic existence and continuance of the Office of Vicar held by St. Peter. To understand why St. Peter was important and what authority was given to him by Christ SPL has composed two lists 10 Biblical Reasons Christ Founded the Papacy and 13 Reasons St. Peter Was the Prince of the Apostles.

LOL, I believe you do.
Of course, that means everyone on the planet is therefore mentally ill with hatred and bigotry, unless they are Catholic.
A position which many of those five billion people, plus a few Catholics, including the Pope, might just see as you expressing your own mental illness of hatred and bigotry.
But I see no indication from any of your posts, anywhere on this site, that you would, or even could, recognize your hypocrisy or self-damnation.
So I'll just close by thanking you for the amusement.
Again! LOL!
Rom 15:20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:
Someone is lying to you...Paul would never have preached in the same town as Peter...Your history is terribly skewed...
And since in Christ there is neither Jew or Gentile, by definition becoming "a Jew" includes rejecting Jesus Christ.
By the by, Jew is a theological term, not a biological one unless, of course, you reject the New Testament.
This is a prime example of why religion itself can be deemed sinful - each religion strives to justify itself as the only true and authoritative basis for Christianity and it causes more conflict than it does carrying of the Word. Satan loves it when we get distracted by such crap.
“Of course, that means everyone on the planet is therefore mentally ill with hatred and bigotry, unless they are Catholic.”
Everyone? No. You apparently mistake all non-Catholics for anti-Catholics. I don’t.
“But I see no indication from any of your posts, anywhere on this site, that you would, or even could, recognize your hypocrisy or self-damnation.”
You’re certainly no road map to someone seeing their own their own hypocrisy and self-damnation.
In the book of Romans Paul specificly states that "I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also" Roman 1:15.
Well there ya go...That proves Peter was never there, unless Paul was lying...
They are either worshiping a cement idol or shielding their eyes from the lamp post...
To be ignorant of scripture is to be ignorant of Christ. It’s all right there, just open your Bible.
I can certainly accept that. I think I misunderstood the point you were originally trying to make. My bad.
I agree. It’s a reflection on the character of the authors. Some other Christians go out of their way to insult Catholics, too.
Absolutely. You misinterpret the point I wS trying to make. I was ‘t supporting the RCC. I was simply saying the same thing that The Lord had written in His word and that He lives in every believer! -NS
history, history, history. Not the future or the present, far back in history. I was going to say something about the time before Abraham, but didn’t want to get too carried away, but hey, it will be like the beginning AFTER we are all dead. I believe the article was speaking of life here on earth, not in the new heaven/earth.
Was the term “Jew” invented after the birth of the Messiah? Just wondering.
I have seen Catholics threatened with bodily harm by anti-Catholics. I too was threatened by an anti-Catholic who promised me he was going to come to my door with a shotgun.
Be assured, I would not.
I firmly believe anti-Catholicism is a mental illness grounded in hatred and bigotry. I give no meaningful personal information to anyone online about my name, my family, location, etc.
Let's just say, I'm happy to hide behind an Interwebz pseudonym, given the online behavior of some I have witnessed.
I have to disagree that very much of the Catholic doctrine is based on the teachings of St. Peter.
He never even talked about himself
much less exalt his own authority.
Show me a Church that is based on St Peter`s teaching and I might join.
The Word of God in the New Testament clears that all up for you
Peter didn't spend much time in Rome at all. It amazes me that Catholics just take the word of the Catholic Church rather than truly study scripture, history, and the travels of the apostles. Peter spent his time in Britain not in Rome. Peter was sent to the lost tribes of Israel not the Gentiles or the Jews.
At one time. Was he still married during Christs three year ministry?
Mathew 8
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
The Catholics holds Peter up as being the rock but it appears to me that it is in name only.
Peter never held himself as one with any authority he just did as Jesus told him, and that was to preach the gospel as on the day of Pentecost.
The Catholic doctrine of authority does not seem to come from Peter.
Show me a Church that preaches what Peter preached and I may join.
The church that Linus I created is not the same Church Peter belong to. Linus made up his own church.
Linus could not have been leader of Christ’s true Church because John, who was an Apostle, was still alive on the earth at the time.
Jesus Himself spoke to John face to face even when Linus claimed to be the head of the Church. Jesus never visited Linus ever.
Fact.
