My dear husband fell, fracturing his femur and tearing a rotator cuff in his shoulder. He does not have osteoporosis; it was just a freaky accident.
He is a big man -- not fat, just big -- and he landed on his hip and his elbow on a neighbor's blacktop driveway. As is so typical of him, he was there to help the neighbor with a task.
He is in very good health -- but not too graceful -- so I am confident that he will heal, but, right now he is in a great deal of pain in the leg and from swelling in the arm. He was able to use the arm right after the fall, but now he cannot.
Also, he is feeling quite glum about the fact that he will not be in full working order for several weeks. We are retired, so, fortunately, he is not missing paid work, but he is always very busy around the house and in our rather large yard. It is bothering him for me to need to take up the slack. Besides, sitting for too long gives him the heebie-jeebies.
I ask for FR Prayer Warriors to pray for relief from his pain and for his spirits to be lifted.
Thank you Bigg Red.
A bad fall can happen to anyone at almost anytime.
Sympathy and prayers for your Husband.
Buy him a cryotherapy unit and a recliner to sleep in. He'll need it for a few weeks as after surgery its hard to lie down flat.
Thank you.
Praying now.
Thank you for the advice about the recliner. I will look into that. Don’t know about the cryotherapy unit. Sounds like it would be...an ice pack?
Basically, its a cooler holding ice water with a sleeve for the shoulder and a pump.
Prayers up, I fell, slid/crashed my ankle into a cement porch when I was 16. That was a long summer. Healing Prayers for your husband.
Make sure that he takes enough Calcium and Vitamin D to help with the healing process. God Bless both of you.
Praying for complete restoration of both femur and rotator cuff. Be blessed and rest in Him.
Prayers as requested. I’ve had two neck fusions, shoulder surgery, and blown tendons in my hand. The most important thing for your husband is to arrange for physical therapy and you must ensure he goes and does his homework. These things are painful and can take a long time to recover. Without therapy he can lose significant range of motion. With therapy, he’ll do just fine.
Okay. Thanks.
Thanks.
Will do. Thanks.
Thank you.
I do, indeed, trust in the Lord, and He has done great things for me.
Thank you.
Don’t worry, I know that he will listen to the PT and follow through. Been down that road with a prior injury.
Prayers up for your husband... did he slip on ice? A lady from our church slipped on a patch of black ice in the parking lot and fractured her hip yesterday. Nasty stuff!
i slipped on ice and dislocated my elbow last week, still in a cast, NOT FUN.Dr.said they have seen tons of breaks and dislocations this year because of all the snow and ice. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE
Will do.
Thank you.
There has been an unusually great amount of ice around here of late, but actually, he tripped over the neighbor’s trailer hitch. No ice was involved.
Oh, dear. Prayers up for you.
