From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

It’s history baby, with legitimate sources from a protestant magazine. I thought you claimed to enjoy studying history. Now you have some real facts. Go and sin no more.

Who are these non-denominational Christians for two-thousand years?

Afraid your forefathers missed imprisoning a few? Well, a remnant has always escaped tyrants by the Grace of God. We're still here, for now.

If you wish you can answer the same question. An actual answer.

Catholics sure do take comfort being with others who are in error don't they. I think it's the lemming affect.

Actually we take comfort in correct the lies, misunderstandings, myths, and fantasies of our separated brethren and sistern (Ya I know it is not a real word, but it fits.)

Who are these non-denominational Christians for two-thousand years?

Those born-again-of-the-Spirit believers in Lord Jesus Christ alone as their Savior from their sins and the second death, and those who escaped the clutches of religious and secular tyrants who tried to murder them or at least keep them imprisoned for life and isolated from other people.

Non-denominational Christians: The Remnant you've read about in the Holy Bible.

That's my answer (again) to your repeated question.

Amazing the way the haters on here question the knowledge of Christian theology of a Catholic priest.

Once a "Catholic priest" posts a comment that says that Protestants give birth to babies around Christmas time so that they can eat them--all credibility is lost.

sorry....the Catholic church is indeed the gatekeeper...Christ said so, I didn't....

Sorry, but NO, Jesus never said the Catholic church is His gatekeeper just that HE is the door/gate/way/truth/life. But JFG, which "Catholic" church did you mean, the one BEFORE Vatican II (of which you stated: "was about as much nonsense as I can stand for a while") or the one after? Should "nonsense" purveyors be gatekeepers at all?

Stuff that’s not found in the Bible, in Scripture, they teach as truth and believe unreservedly. Stuff that’s found in the Bible, found in Scripture, they deny, explain away, or excuse away. How ironic that the very argument that they use, *But it’s not found in the Bible*, when you show them something that IS found in the Bible, they deny it.

They have this convenient little escape clause called "Tradition" and the "magesterium". It allows them to claim they don't NEED something to be in the Scripture in order for them to both believe it is part of the Christian faith and mandate to ALL that they have to believe it, too. Nice, huh?

Would you both please get back on track with the subject of the thread instead of getting into personal type replies?

Thanks
