From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

I'm a bit sorry for outing your apparent belief about infant "baptism" but it seemed necessary

Outing my belief in infant Baptism??????? Just ask, it works fine...the kids are easy to lift and dip into the font...works great, and they cry and are VERY cute..When they get older, say 6th or 7th grade, they recieve the Christ instituted Sacrament of Confirmation.

Confirmation is a Sacrament where the Holy Ghost comes to us in a special way to enable us to profess our faith as strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ.

(Baltimore Catechism)...from a very old memory!!

Can you imagine God receiving those tiny souls and saying "Nope, you have to have an adult ticket to get into the Baptism show"....please

Elsie,
My godly and thoughtful wife encouraged me to get one rather than die a while back. I am so grateful every time we get a large snow. I’ve been able to help neighbors and a couple neighbors have borrowed it.

verga, stay safe.

We just went to the store to buy a few things. Pretty much had the road to ourselves (4x4 with traction control). Store was closed. Ah well, it was pretty out.

Not in the Bible tc. Nor is there a perfect Christian.

But, if you want to believe it anyway, I support your right to do so.

WOW! That must be wonderful to be perfect. I thought there was only one perfect person that's ever walked the earth. I don't think that you qualify as perfect unless you're claiming to be Jesus.

Without Catholics on FR there would be no Religion Forum.

FOTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Catholics start the vast majority of the threads.

Yup. That's been noticed, despite what some RC's complain about FR being biased against Catholics and the RF becoming a Prot sounding board.

Catholics start threads about Catholicism and of course evangelicals have to weigh in and run down Catholicism. Different day, same story.

This is not a Roman Catholic Church owned and operated website.

Catholics can have their own private threads on FR by designating their original post as "Catholic Caucus."

Are there any other group using Free Republic which regularly employ this Catholic-only privilege of segregated privacy on a forum that non-Catholics also support financially?

So, why the griping about non-Catholic FReepers using this website's provided forums to express dissenting opinions?

At the ranch we have about 2.5 miles of “semi-gravel, semi dirt” so we never even try to remove any snow, we just chain-up and drive over it.

But for the last two years there hasn’t been enough snow to last more than a day or two anyway. Central California is often a dry place.

I am specifically talking about posting threads about the start of Christianity in the world. It is not my fault that it is also the founding of the Catholic Church. You can’t separate the two. Without the Catholic Church there would be no Christianity. That is hard for some on FR to come to grips with. It is not my fault or any other Catholic poster’s fault. It is historical fact and when the same usual suspects weigh in and try to deny anything and everything that the Catholic Church has been responsible for it is ridiculous and laughable. Facts are facts and denying historical facts does not make it true.

If someone postd a long thread about protestantism, and does not mention the Catholic Church I could care less. I do not immediately weigh in and say everything in the article is hogwash because it does not mention Catholicism. I know the truth and will not hijack a protestant thread just trying to stir up trouble.

I will defend my Catholic faith when the usual suspects weigh in with their putdowns. If I didn’t I would be much of a Catholic.

"Catholics start threads about Catholicism and of course evangelicals have to weigh in and run down Catholicism. " Uh oh. Fix needed in Aisle 5. "Catholics start threads about promoting Catholicism and running down other Christians... and of course evangelicals have to weigh in and run down Catholicism correct the errors."

Mary was not asked.

She was told how it was going to be.

repeating 2+2=5 doesn't make that true either. God doesn't force anyone to do anything.

Without Catholics on FR there would be no ARROGANCE and condescending superiority in the Religion Forum.

Yeah, but that's the fun part...When you're superior...you're superior!!!

That's just it, "you're" not. That's WHY it is called arrogance and condescending superiority. And I wouldn't call it "fun", I'd call it hilarious, as in FUNNY!

Nonsense. She could have said no. She said yes and for that reason Jesus Christ was born.

Christ founded one Church and that is the Catholic Church. Not 50,000. Please give it a rest.
