Hindus Ask Pope Francis To Punish Priest Who Said Yoga Leads To Satanism, 'Kingdom Of Darkness' By Bruce Wright @bctw on February 23 2015 The pope has been asked by some Hindus to discipline a Catholic priest who equated yoga and the devil. Reuters/Max Rossi
A group of Hindus is appealing to Pope Francis to intervene after a Catholic priest from Northern Ireland insinuated that the ancient discipline of yoga is tantamount to Satanism and paganism. Rev. Roland Colhoun from Glendermott parish was delivering a sermon in the village of Drumsurn on Feb. 8 dealing with the devil and exorcism when he said that both practicing yoga and getting Indian head massages will lead to the Kingdom of Darkness, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The Hindu community on Sunday reacted with anger to Colhouns remarks, with Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, asking His Holiness Pope Francis to discipline a Derry Catholic priest who linked yoga to Satan. Zed, who has been a major proponent for incorporating yoga into everyday life for people across the world -- especially students -- said that yoga-related books could be found in the Vatican library.

I await Francis’ response .....
Actually I know Hindus who have told me that Yoga, explored beyond the purely physical, will eventually lead one to dark places.
“Yoga as a form of pagan worship is satanic. “
Yoga exercises as a part of routine body maintenance are life enhancing.
The exercises of yoga are designed to facilitate the rise of kundalini energy which is very important in Hinduism, as a portent to union or absorption into brahma, or what we might think of God as unmanifested absolute. Yoga means Union. Hatha yoga, a system of exercises to facilitate Union.
When you practice yoga, you are practicing Hinduism whether you chant Om or not.
The obelisk is there because it stood in Nero's circus when the first Christian martyrs were killed. Period.
Yoga as a form of pagan worship is satanic.

What about yoga as a form of exercise?
And all the religion-bashing atheists are suddenly very silent.
And Sunday is ‘holy’ because the savior was raised that day..so says Rome..
Another story that fits Rome’s sun worship..
That story loses something too when Passover can fall on a day other than goddess Friya’s Day..
Rome’s ‘sun’ day holy worship only fits with their pope authorized solar calendar..
It all falls apart with the biblical calendar He gives in His sky..
The calendar He gave us on His 4th day according to Genesis.
Coincidently, today is His 4th day on His calendar.
The world, thanks to the pope Gregory calendar names it (at least in America) Tiw’s Day instead this month,
Some false god that gets a day every seven thanks to Rome..
The pope’s ‘sun’s day will be a work day on our Heavenly Father’s calendar for the remainder of His month..
Babylon will fall.. period..
Isaiah 46:1 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.
Jeremiah 50:2 "Announce and proclaim among the nations, lift up a banner and proclaim it; keep nothing back, but say, 'Babylon will be captured; Bel will be put to shame, Marduk filled with terror. Her images will be put to shame and her idols filled with terror.
Catholic can't deny where it originally came from.
"The obelisk was originally erected at Heliopolis, Egypt, by an unknown pharaoh of the Fifth dynasty of Egypt (c. 2494 BC 2345 BC). During its history of c. 4400 years (at the start of the 2010s), the obelisk has been successfully moved three times.
The Emperor Augustus (c. 63 BC 14 AD) had the obelisk moved to the Julian Forum of Alexandria, where it stood until 37 AD, when Caligula ordered the forum demolished and the obelisk transferred to Rome. He had it placed on the spina which ran along the centre of the Circus of Nero, where it would preside over Nero's countless brutal games and Christian executions.
It was moved to its current site in 1586 by the engineer-architect Domenico Fontana under the direction of Pope Sixtus V; the engineering feat of re-erecting its vast weight was memorialized in a suite of engravings. The Vatican Obelisk is the only obelisk in Rome that has not toppled since ancient Roman times. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Peter%27s_Square#Obelisk]
Anti-Catholics can't deny what Pope Sixtus had carved into the base of the obelisk:
Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat!
LOL The Catholic Church claims to have “sanctified” a lot of pagan beliefs and practices contrary to God’s commands.
I know of people who were into yoga before converting to Christianity and they say that the different positions are different prayer positions used to call up the different Hindu deities, and that by assuming those positions, you are indicating to the spirit world that you are open and receptive to their presence.
Apparently, yoga cannot be separated from the spiritual aspect of it, by making it a purely physical exercise.
Please provide your source for that etymology.
I don't see where the exercises would be harmful...It's the meditation that is dangerous...You are instructed to clear your mind of all influences including that of the Holy Spirit...While making room for other spirits to take up residence...
What may not be a good idea is to be in a room filled with unclean spirits looking for a mind to take up...
For what purpose did it stand there and why was it never torn down???
Wasn't aware of that...Thanks...
"Never torn down" ... It was "torn down," it was moved to the square in front of St. Peter's. The whole point, which certain people seem to be missing, was to stick the proverbial finger-in-the-eye to Nero and the rest of the persecuting Caesars ... as in, "Hey, turkey, WE WON!".
I must have missed that obelisk commandment. In which book of the New Testament would I find it?
