Divinum Officium: Whoever does not embrace the Catholic Christian religion will be damned
Divin Office of the Holy Catholic Church ^ | Traditional Catholic Church

From the Martyrology today we have: "At Damascus, [in the year 743,] holy Peter Mavimeno. Some Arabs came to see him while he was ill, and to them he said, " Whoever does not embrace the Catholic Christian religion will be damned, as your false prophet Mohammed is," whereupon they killed him."

Or, we could just read the Bible and note how Jesus breathed on the apostles, saying, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them. Whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.” John 20:23 Hmmm. How can the apostles DECIDE which sins to forgive and which sins to retain? Why—it is self-evident that people need to TELL them what their sins are, and whether they repent. Funny. Jesus gave the apostles the power to forgive sins. It’s right there in St. John’s gospel. Yet some people DENY that Jesus handed over the power to forgive sins to any human. They say that “it is not necessary to tell our sins to a man.” I guess some people JUST DON’T BELIEVE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.

And how were those sins forgiven? By preaching the Word of forgiveness offered by Christ.

Acts 2:38

Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,

Acts 10:44

Peter again,

Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

Peter again,

Acts 5:30-31

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. 31“He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32“And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Paul writing,

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God bmade alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by ccanceling dthe record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14

>>Unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man you shall have not life within you.<<

I suppose you think that Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and John actually ate the physical scroll too right? And did you know that if Jesus and the apostles actually ate physical blood they would have been sinning? That would make the Jesus you believe in a sinner.

>>Whose sins you shall forgive they shall be forgiven and whose sins you shall retain they are retained.<<

Actually the Greek says those sins had already been forgiven and will always have remained forgiven. The apostles were only proclaiming what already existed. We can do the same.

>>You are rock and upon this rock I shall build My church.<<

The Rock was Christ. There is no other.

Why shouldn’t Trent discuss the damnation of Protestants?

The only reason that would be illegitimate is if there are no Protestants in Hell. Are you saying it impossible for a Protestant to go to Hell?

Where did you get the bizarre notion that Protestants don’t get the benefit of the “invincible ignorance loophole” that Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims get?

Unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man you shall have not life within you.

Read the whole thing in context and you will understand that Jesus is saying to believe in Him is the same as eating the bread and drinking the blood.

Else, this would be in violation of the Council of Jerusalem on this issue.

“Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, 20but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. Acts 16:20

If you really believe we are to eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood then you have to literally believe you must cut your eye out and cut off your hand.

I don't see many maimed catholics walking around.

Do you literally believe Jesus was a physical door? A physical vine? A real shepherd?

Were the disciples really "fishing for men"?

Sure sounds like Jesus is using words that people would understand to convey His real meaning.

Again, read the whole text in context and you will get the meaning.

Just getting wet doesn't forgive anything.

>>Or, we could just read the Bible and note how Jesus breathed on the apostles, saying, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them. Whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.” John 20:23<<

Acts 15:8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith.

>>Hmmm. How can the apostles DECIDE which sins to forgive and which sins to retain?<<

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus …

>>Why—it is self-evident that people need to TELL them what their sins are, and whether they repent.<<

It didn't say come boldly before the throne of guy in a robe who just may be diddling little boys.

>>Jesus gave the apostles the power to forgive sins.<<

No He didn't. He gave them authority to declare what sins had already been declared forgiven. Something we have the ability to do as well.

>>I guess some people JUST DON’T BELIEVE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.<<

Like "thou shalt not eat the blood"?

First, you cut-and-paste a slew of Scripture verses about “baptism for the forgiveness of sins.”

Minutes later, you sneeringly mock the sacrament of baptism—instituted by CHRIST—as “getting wet.”

Get back to me when you decide which one of your personalities is posting today.

Scripture. Baptism is only a symbol of having already been forgiven. The Greek says baptised into the forgiveness.

Right. Well in context I see that when many told Jesus that this is a hard saying and left Him that day, there is no record that he called them back and clarified it as you have attempted to here.

Jesus commanded no one to remove their limbs. He very directly commanded us to consume his sacred body and blood.

What was Paul talking about when he said that we can drink His blood to our condemnation if we partake unworthily without recognizing?

The sacred Mass with transubstantiation was well established and documented as the true presence of Christ with His own living disciples from then all the way up to the very present days.

I suppose when someone say “he went to prison for murder” it means “he went to jail so he could murder” also?

Jesus commanded no one to remove their limbs. He very directly commanded us to consume his sacred body and blood.

You sure about that??

If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell. Matthew 5:29-30

So my question to you is have you cut your eye out or cut off a hand?

Read all of John 6 for the context of the passage your getting hung up on.

It’s the first thing that came to mind when I read the title...

The phrase was used a lot around where I was raised.
You of course understand it’s an expression of incredulity, like
“well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle”.

So, it is fitting for the assertion of this thread - an expression of incredulity.

There is none of the above without the traditional pristhood and the traditional Holy Catholic Church.

Create a need then fill it.

What job security.

What a racket.
