While I agree with about 90-95% of the Church’s teachings

Do you believe in the Magisterium? Do you know what it is?

Nope. Can’t have your own opinion or do your own research.

Yes. Do your own research. Study. But you cannot have your own opinion on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. To be a Catholic, you must accept the teachings of the Church. "I'm a catholic, and I accept 99% of all the Church teachings, but I believe in abortion, adultery, and that piece of bread is a cookie."

I'm sure you can find one of the many made up churches that match your beliefs.

Yes, magisterium is when the Church sets down a particular teaching. In some cases putting forth ideas and theories not found anywhere in the Bible. For example, the idea that Mary was always a virgin and never consummated her marriage with Joseph. In the 19th century, Pope Pius IX, put forward the dogma that Mary herself was born of an Immaculate Conception, even though no mention of the circumstances surrounding her birth in the Bible or anywhere else for that matter. Interesting to note that this is the very same pope who developed the concept of “papal infallibility”. I guess he didn’t want anyone questioning his ideas or theories.

If it’s OK with you, I prefer to stick as closely to scripture as possible and I don’t like making things up or making assumptions like that.

And no.......I’m not leaving. Try to have me excommunicated if you like. But I’m not leaving. I belong to many organizations (including the GOP) and I find it next to impossible to always agree 100% all of the time with every position put out by those organizations and their leadership. I stay within in the GOP because I agree with most of it. I stay in my church because I agree with most of it. I stick closely with what is written in the Bible. And yes the Bible is very specific on adultery and other such matters.
