Why did you change the subject to voting?
Why did you change the subject to immigration?
Now you’re back on voting again. Why do you keep changing the subject?
Arthur — remember that Moslems deny the Trinity as well...
good points. Also, note that your mother didn’t create you, my mother didn’t create me and Jesus’ mother didn’t create him. These marvelous women bore their children — their children came from God and in Jesus’ case, WAS/IS God
Scripture doesn't call Mary the "mother of Jesus' flesh." Why, then, do you? Don't you believe in Scripture?
Ah ... that’s what you meant ... thanks for the clarification.
We call that a 'cop out'...You obviously can't discuss it because you know nothing about it...You can't discuss your understanding of the Trinity or the divine nature of God because I have a different view??? Who you trying to kid???
Man is a trinity...
1Th_5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Humans (you) are made up of 3 parts...But yet you are one person...Any one of the three parts individually is still you...
Gen_1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So what do you thunk??? Humans are made in the likeness of Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, or the Father??? Bible says we are made in the likeness of all three...We are made in the likeness of the Godhead...
Heb_1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his (God's) person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
The 'Glorified' Jesus is the image of God...Just as our body is the image of our person (body, soul, spirit)...
Well there you go in typical Catholic fashion...You can't expound on the Trinity so you send me to a page with numerous links of hundreds of pages with more links to more pages of human philosophy of which the authors don't have a clue about the Trinity either...
Hey you're back...Perhaps you can explain the Trinity and the divine nature of God in Jesus...Or not...
The Bible proves its divine inspiration by the fulfillment of SPECIFIC prophecies, verified by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other, hostile eyewitnesses.
The author says that Sola Scriptura is a circular logic fallacy. It would be, if we weren’t talking about source Authority. Just as there can only be One God, or there are none, then there can only be one sole source authority for truth, or there is none.
And, as I said above, the Bible proves itself to be that sole source authority for revealed truth.
I wouldn’t want to serve a God I could explain or understand.
He wouldn’t be much of a God if I could figure Him out.
People who claim to understand the Trinity are full of it.
Because that would be redundant.
Saying *mother of Jesus* is all that's needed.
The Holy Spirit knew what He was doing when He inspired the writers of Scripture to use that term.
Too bad Catholics don't think so and see the need to try to *improve* on His work.
Exactly...And if it wasn't THE authority, why would any one waste their time with it???
“Is the following a formally valid syllogism or a formally invalid syllogism?
Emily is the mother of Sam.
Sam is a fireman.
Emily is the mother of a fireman.”
Seems valid, if silly. To wrangle the Firstborn and the mystery of godliness into a syllogism and pretend it applies to Him? Nonsense....on stilts.
“Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” (1 Tim. 3:16)
AGAIN, do NOT make it personal, just discuss the issues.
Posting your opinion as if is a fact about another poster is mindreading and therefore personal.
I believe God gives enough of an understanding of the Trinity (if we choose to search the scriptures) to let us know that the 2nd person of the Trinity did not die and that Mary is not the mother of God...
In my view, believing in the Trinity is essential but understanding the Trinity, not so much...We can only rely on what the Holy Spirit feeds us in the scriptures...And he neglected to tell us much about the Trinity...
But one thing is certain...God never intended that Christians should be black-balled for not understanding the Trinity nor should they be killed for it, as one Religion has a history of doing...
You know, after reading through the book of Acts, several times, while the persons of the Godhead are mentioned, I don’t see anywhere where the doctrine of the Trinity is a requirement for any new believers to master.
I don’t see Jesus anywhere in the Gospels demanding an understanding of the Trinity to be saved either.
I think in most cases when people come to Jesus, they basically just know that they need Him and that suffices.
The rest comes later as we learn and grow.
