Today's Scripture
Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. (I Chronicles 28:20, ESV)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Fear not. That is the message David had for his son, Solomon. For many years, David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God told Him that specific job belonged to his son, Solomon. Solomon was young and inexperienced, and even though he knew he had a mandate from God, he was intimidated by the prospect of building a great house of worship, one that would be a dwelling place for the Most High. You can probably understand his apprehension.
But his father David had some good advice for him. He told his son, Forget your fear. God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than the temple you are going to build. He is bigger than any adversity that you might face. So just get busy and do your part and God will do the rest.
Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions. Whatever your individual needs may be, notice the words of David, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.
A Prayer for Today
God, Im excited to see what You have planned for me this year. Whatever I face, I will not be intimidated. I will begin this year by seeing myself as You do happy, healthy, and prosperous. Thank you for the gift of another year. In Jesus name, Amen.
removing the “no debate allowed” tag doesn’t ban the Osteen posts
That is what Joel Osteen does, he has so little actual religion in his message that many people might be shocked to hear him to say "Jesus saves".
John said to him, Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.Vision, I think this describes you and your efforts:But Jesus said, Do not stop him; for no one who does a deed of power in my name will be able soon afterwards to speak evil of me. Whoever is not against us is for us.'
Mark 9:38-40
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9
Thank you both for your helpful and informative posts here. You've made this a better place.
Only if you agree with them.
Funny thing about that thread was that I WAS agreeing with them.
IIRC, some priest or teacher got canned from his job for sticking to his guns and not compromising what he believed in.
I posted at attaboy kind of post. I admire someone who stands up for what they believe in, even if I don’t agree with it, even at the cost of their livelihood. It shows a great deal of integrity.
Anyway, one person thanked me. It was a feeding frenzy for the rest.
As metmom said, Where have you been?
The latest: Even the CATHOLICS are doing that these days.

HMMMmmm...
"Devoted" to WHOM??
Fresh air is ALWAYS good to help heal wounds!
Them and another 'Only True Church' group that starts with an "M" (or "L"); but THEY usually make themselves known at the getgo...
If you have cable TV, there wont be much on to watch.
If there isnt much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.
If you open your door, you will see mormons.
If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into praying about whether something is true.
If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.
If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!
If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.
DONT be a cultist!
Get DirectTV.
Can I assume you'll still be READING?
Wait'll they find out you did NOT vote for Romney last time!!
This is a conservative, Christian-oriented forum, and its a pretty controversial thing for a member to post devotionals dedicated to a man who espouses increasingly anti-Christian sentiments, and who seems unable to stand up and uncompromisingly defend the Gospel.

Why not just sign up for his daily devotional emails then?
Or get them off his website.
FR can’t possibly be the only place to find them.
There may be some false teaching from Osteen; but I’d call his ‘ministry’ highly LOPSIDED in it’s approach.
(Does he ever call out SIN???)
You wish!
Jesus is coming back.
Are you ready?
I am NOT 'debating'!!
I am stating FACTS!!!
You never know what yer gonna git.
SEND???
That is where we are ALL headed; unless we accept the offer given!
John 3:18
Does Joel preach(?) anything that'll SAVE a person from that fate??
And now, after reading all the many posts by posters filled to the brim with the love of Jesus, I better understand the wisdom expressed by the Religion Moderator.
Yet another sign along the road we're on. Must be getting close to our destination.
