By the way....There are churches that say “Church of Christ” and some that say “United Church of Christ” in my area. Are they the same thing? How do I tell a difference? Thanks.
Totally different denominations. Obama’s church pastored by Jeremiah Wright, Trinity United, is part of United Church of Christ. They attempt to use the Bible to preach their Marxism.
When you visit a church — before you visit — go to their website and read their statement of faith and all their affiliations and recommended resources. Some you can mark off based on denomination and affiliations. Some may have an ok denomination but are rogue within the denomination They are usually pretty proud of their waywardness and you will be able to recognize it on their website. See statement of faith, resources, youth programs (especially vulnerable area so check it out even if you do not have youth in your family), and pastor backgrounds. If you can, listen to past sermons. It will save you time and heartbreak.
I read one website statement of faith that read more like a leftist political statement than a biblical one. Turned out it was a liberal oddball within the Southern Baptist denomination.
United Church of Christ (UCC) is what we used to call “Congregational”. It is a very liberal denomination. I know, because I worked and studied at a seminary that was mostly UCC, and they were heavy into “Social Justice’ and “Liberation Theology”. Most of the students there were womyn, if you catch my drift.
“Church of Christ’ is a different group entirely. I don’t knopw much about them, except that they are somewhat legalistic and don’t allow musical instruments. They have really good acapella choirs though.
Are they the same thing?
There is also no manual which they have to go by except the Bible.
if it’s united church of christ and has this loon, it’s not a christians entity.
