Actually, it's not adoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, it's honoring her. And that's addressed by another Commandment, a column-inch down the page: "Honor thy father and thy mother."
And by Mary's own prophetic declaration: "All generations will call me blessed."
A true prophecy of Christians through the centuries.

Loyola had made the Virgin the most important thing in his life....
The Worship of Mary was the base of his religious devotions and was handed down by him to his Order..... This worship developed so much that it was often said, and with good reason, that it was the Jesuits real religion
Father Charmot] (The Secret History of the Jesuits: Paris, 59). [HT caww]
Jesuits worship Mary, along with a multitude of everyday Catholics.
Francis is a Jesuit. Francis is a Catholic. In fact, Francis is the TOP Catholic.
Perhaps that is why Mary is the central figure in Catholicism.

"All generations will call me blessed." and ADORED, and VENERATED, and remembered in PRAYERS, by STATUES (not idols, silly!), IMAGES, and WORDs OF PRAISE!
