Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

Where would Jesus be without His mother?

He wouldn't be here on Earth to be our Savior...He wouldn't be at the wedding feast at Cana, He wouldn't be transfigured , He wouldn't be here to establish the SEVEN sacraments (you know about those...remember?), he wouldn't have had to have spikes driven through His arms and feet so He could die for our redemption........see just how important that His mother was?????????????????

I do not believe Jesus intended the wine and bread to “be” his actual body and blood. That is catholic doctrine not Christian. For this was done at the last supper and HE was not yet crucified...

sure He did....that's why HE SAID SO...it was, and is Christian doctrine for 2,015 years....some, for whatever reason choose to ignore Christ's instruction to "take and eat of This...THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU...........and some think they can ignore this.....O.K., I guess....I'd never think of doing so....I LOVE the Eucharist.

FWIW, the golden rays which radiate from the Body and Blood of Christ, reserved in the monstrance, symbolize the "Light of the World." Funny, don't recall any mention of these "montrances" in the early church

Nope, there wasn't, there was, however, a mention of "take and eat of this, THIS IS MY BODY, and Take and drink, THIS IS MY BLOOD" so you deny Christ's words, and concern yourself with a decorative gold monstrance...BRILLIANT !!!!

Justification is by faith. Those with lives of rampant sin obviously don’t have faith. This isn’t that complicated. I think it’s just hard to accept.

I think the ones that have the MOST difficulty with accepting this simple truth are those who are the MOST proud of their own righteousness. "Gotta put in my own 2¢ worth to show God I deserve it.", they reason. Genuine soul-saving faith begins with the acknowledgment that I am a sinner and I deserve to go to hell. That I cannot save myself and I need a savior/redeemer. Those who have one foot on Jesus and the other on their own works of righteousness are not really trusting in Jesus Christ to save them. Those who believe faith AND works save them are only paying lip service to faith. They are fallen from grace.

Perhaps that is why Mary is the central figure in Catholicism.

no she isn't...it's her Child that we glorify, adore, and pray TO.

That’s ‘catholic doctrine’ that the wine and bread are changed to his actual body and blood..it’s not Christian Doctrine.

In Communion we tkae communion in “rememberance” of Jesus and what HE did for us in Saving us. .....which was similar to God passing over those who had the blood of the lamb on the mantel. We take Communion as much in anticipation of His coming as we do ‘in remembrance’ of His dying, burial and resurrection.

It is written...”For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”....1Cor. 11:26 He did not say as often as you eat my body and drink my blood......

So I do not believe it suddenly changes to his body and blood via a priest’s abba ca dabbra......especially since the Priesthood was done with at the cross ...when the curtain was torn from top to bottom that ALL may enter the Holy of Holies...there was no longer a need for a Priesthood since Jesus IS our great high Priest....

"take and eat of this, THIS IS MY BODY, and Take and drink, THIS IS MY BLOOD"

Then why isn't that done, instead of parading it (the little tiny wafer which is supposed to contain the complete Jesus Christ) around in a sunburst so it can be worshiped? Doesn't the cracker substance that it actually is get stale?

...”no she isn't...it's her Child that we glorify, adore, and pray TO.”....

The mountainous evidence would prove otherwise. Saying one doesn't worship Mary when they bow, pray, kiss and various other behaviors “of worship” is just deceiving oneself.

And interesting how often catholics use the terms of “child” or son” but rarely to hear or see His name used.

Christians worship the risen Jesus Christ....who is ‘alive’ HE’s no longer in a manger, or in Mary’s arms, or on the cross, or buried...he's Alive!

...”doctrine for 2,015 years”....

Which means nothing for if years practicing is the measure and standard then islam can name that claim as well...It has billions of adherents.

Jesus Christ had only 11 disciples by the time he went up to the cross . . . the pharisees had the power of the mob and the Roman establishment behind them.

Number doesnt justify anything.

“I LOVE the Eucharist”

A weak substitute for Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World.

No sign of you ever saying I LOVE Jesus

Yes she is.

Even on this website, there is more discussion by Catholics about Mary than there is about Jesus.

There is no Child to glorify, adore and pray to.

Christians have a risen Savior that we worship. Catholics should grow up and follow along.

Oh and terycarl it's alright to admit that you pray to Mary.

It's taken years of proving it to the Catholics here, but they now know that it's OK with the Catholic authorities to pray to Mary and many now admit it.

Yeah I hear they want to crucify (had to use that word) him for speaking about it.

Obama had no problem in outing the inside guy (a Pakistani doctor) in Pakistan and he is still in prison there.

Exodus 20 King James Version (KJV)

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
