The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
Well, Messiah is a Jewish term; I would not use it. Also “birther” is a strange verbal convolution. Mary is simply Mother of God.
You don’t see deep affection in the voice of that woman? It is an expression of love. That is what veneration is.
Correct. That is the Sacrifice of the Mass.
“Well, Messiah is a Jewish term; I would not use it.”
Then you do not understand that Christ was Jewish. Messiah was promised to the Nation of Israel. We benefit -read Romans 11. He was born of a Jewish woman in fulfillment of promises God made in Hebrew Scriptures.
“Also birther is a strange verbal convolution.”
Accurate.
“Mary is simply Mother of God.”
If she is that, why didn’t God ever give her that title? Answer. She was not mother of God.
She was simply chosen to bear Messiah. That is enough. we do not need to try to make her into more than God did. She received His favor, being chosen by Him to bear Messiah.
The difference is in who Mary is and Who Jesus is (on her lap in both pictures), as opposed to what the idols are.
But you knew that.

You have to read on down for it, them.

Catholics could show respect for her by not making her into something she is not.
Metmom: Jesus needed to be corrected????
Nice reading comprehension exercise.
Gospel according to Luke.
He didn't? Jesus is not God? Mary was not His mother?
It is not a "title", it is what she is.
None.
:)
No, that is a primitive and mindless reading of the psalm quote. To take this psalm literally -- or think that st. Paul quoted it thinking of it as a literal definition of everyone would mean that not only Mary sinned (the Bible does not record any such), but she also does not seek God and is quick to murder. So is your pastor: God-hater and murderer. Enjoy your fantastical theology; I'll stick with both the Holy Scripture and my Church explaining it.
Guess you don't like these either.
Psalm 14:3
They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Galatians 3:22
But Scripture has shut up all men under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Ephesians 2:1
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins.
Colossians 1:13-14
For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:21
And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds.
Colossians 2:13 And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions.
1 John 1:8
if we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
But the Bible makes a distinction regarding Christ. It's the only such one.
1 Peter 2:21-24
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,
22WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH;
23and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
24and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
25For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
“He didn’t?”
Never.
“Jesus is not God?”
Always.
“Mary was not His mother?”
Earthly mother.
“It is not a “title”, it is what she is.”
Than why do you make it into a title, complete with capitalization, “Mother of God?” You gave her a title.
But of course, she isn’t. God calls her only highly favored with His grace for being chosen as bearer of Messiah.
We needn’t make Mary into more than God did. It is sufficient. To make her into a demigod, as catholocism does is a terrible thing to do to dear Mary.
The One Sacrifice of Christ on Golgotha hill.
Our Judgment as Christians is over with...
I knew it!
LOL
That’s also why you must be such a curmudgeon!! ;)
