My mother had a death bed conversion. She was Catholic her whole life. A couple who befriended my parents were born again Christians. The wife, Pam, spent a great deal of time at the hospital as my mother lay dying (at the young age of 41). She once was a Catholic as well. Anyway, I’ll never forget the day Pam and I had a great talk when I was no longer a child, and she told me my mother accepted Christ as her Savior shortly before she went into a coma and died.
Pam and her husband both prayed for my parents for many years prior to this. I accepted Christ about 6 months after my mother’s passing and my father about six months later.
So, death bed conversions do happen.
My sister had a similar story. Her Mother-in-Law was a cradle to (almost) grave, at mass all the time, RCC. As the end approached, she was full of fear and uncertainty at what lay beyond death. My sister, who was now her full time caregiver, was able to share God's Word, pray with her, and send her home full of joy, peace, and confident expectation of what was ahead.
Both my parents were Spirit-filled Believers and strong in the Lord. I was at the bedside as each closed their eyes, and their spirit slipped away. I KNEW that very moment they were both with the Lord and it brought me so much peace. I still miss them, but know when I see them again, it will seem but a moment to them. (Romans 8:37-39)
God's Grace is so easy and so wonderful. Only religion complicates it.
fortunately for your mom's sake, that's not the way it happens.Mom was baptized a Catholic and saying I accept Jesus as my personal savior would be redundant. If your mother was truly contrite for her sins, whatever they were, she was forgiven them and went to Heaven as a proud and justified Catholic...Praise the Lord!!!
Very much like my mother.
She accepted Christ with me when she was in the hospital dying. It was the last time I saw her conscious.
She died a week later.
