I did personally accept Jesus. He is dwelling in my heart by faith, not be eating a wafer to pass through my digestive tract.

unless you eat of the flesh of the son.....oh well, you know that and if you choose to ignore it....good luck, I'd never even dare to do it.

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Why don't you believe Jesus words?

MM: I did personally accept Jesus. He is dwelling in my heart by faith, not be eating a wafer to pass through my digestive tract.

TC: unless you eat of the flesh of the son.....oh well, you know that and if you choose to ignore it....good luck, I'd never even dare to do it.

John 6 speaks of faith in Jesus.  Eating is just a teaching metaphor Jesus used to get the point across.  And I'm reasonably sure you've heard that before, so I won't belabor the point.

Something to think about though.  Can a person get halfway into their 8th decade and maybe still be wrong about some things? I'm only working on my 7th, and I'm still finding out things I never knew before.  The thing I think I've most come to appreciate is how generous God is.  If someone really and truly understands the Scriptures as teaching we should believe on Jesus, not physically eat Him, doesn't it make sense to let God worry about whether the person is sincere, and us just argue whether the understanding is right?

I'm saying this because it won't be too much longer you and I and a few others here will be called into the front office.  I don't want to have to stand there and explain why I tried to judge things only He could possibly know.  I would think it would be the same for anyone in our position. I can't imagine how you could not know that MM and we evangelicals in general are in no way ignoring Christ's teaching.  We seriously believe the Roman Catholic understanding of John 6 has been pulled into the twilight zone by a serious mistake in the development of RC tradition.  I get that it probably seems impossible to you that this would be true.  That's why God gave us the Scriptures.  He knew we'd get off course from time to time.  We're supposed to hold each other accountable to His truth.  Like Athanasius did with Arius.  When everyone was against him, he pulled out his Bible and built his case on that.  It's a good thing.  It's what we're supposed to do.  And John 6 doesn't speak of physical eating.  Only spiritual.  That's where the life comes from.

Peace,

SR
