Going forward for an altar call and praying the sinners prayer was just a manmade substitute for Gods plan.
For many, it probably amounted to that. Also, for some who had been born again, it was a time of re-dedicating their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and to doing the will of God.
For some who went to the front at the BGEA Crusade, it was a ring-a-ding homerun born-again experience in the Spirit and they never would be the same as before that day or night. Just ask them.
All depends on who was called and who answered and who continued to follow the Lord Jesus Christ from then on.

For some who went to the front at the BGEA Crusade (etc.) ...Like Louis Zamperini, the Olympian and WW2 prison camp survivor who died recently, subject of the book and impending movie Unbroken. He was a mess after the war, but then was converted at a Billy Graham Crusade and became a new man.
