1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people 10not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you.
12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
In this case I would be the first one that I would get out of the Church and I did.
We maybe see the Church in a different light, my belief is that although any one can be in the congregation not just any one can be a member.
the members of the early Church sold what they had and laid the proceeds at the apostles feet and every one lived in common.
This is still at least partly the case in 1 Timothy ch 5, 9 to 16.
The members of the Church had a job to do, they were not just there to hear the word but to help the Church preach it, so they were to live what they preached.
People like myself are not members of the Church so we are out side in that sense and we will be judged by God.
In other words I believe the word Church member of today would be foreign to the early Church.
