Good grief, read the story of Stephen’s stoning. Paul, a Jew, was there persecuting Stephen and other Catholics.

When Stephen was stoned the “church” was a sect of Judaism, mostly Jews with a sprinkling of “righteous gentiles.” The first church were all Jews and the big commotion at the Jerusalem Council between Peter and the others was about if they were going to INCLUDE THE GENTILES that Paul had been preaching to into the Believers circle. At that point they were all still worshiping in the synagogues, keeping the Sabbath, keeping the Feast days etc. Even Paul kept the Sabbath and the Feast Days. These Believers were considered a Jewish sect and still walked as Jews.
