PS: Everyone goes to heaven, makes no difference who they are, what faith, what religion, even atheists. No need in believing in the Gospel. No need in giving your life to Christ. Just "do good" and we'll all meet in heaven. Jesus weeps.
“All” ??
He gives a totally different meaning to the question “is the Pope Catholic”.
what about Jews? do we need flamesuits?
Wow and here you and other RCs just two weeks ago cried havoc when Billy Graham stated his assurance of salvation based on Grace and not his works but Christ's work.
Yet now we have your Pope, your leader in spiritual matters. The head honcho stating as long as atheists are 'good' they can enter the Kingdom of God.
WoW; Is he self-deluded !shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
Did he just close the gates of Hell?
Do I now get to break bread with the likes of Hitler (and his staff),Gengus Khann, Napoleon, Obama and the Antichrist himself?
Wow! Watta a Pope!
If he really said that and meant it in the usual sense he’s full of s**t and not Catholic and not Christian and possibly the anti-pope.
I love writing checks that I cant cash too, Francis.
Now was he being infallible when he said this?
'The Pope is simply affirming certain truths that any somewhat knowledgable Catholic will uphold. This makes the important distinction between "redemption" (which is universal: Jusus is the redeemer of the world) and "salvation" (what some call "being saved" --- the individual aceptance of Christ's all-sufficient redemptive work)."First, that Christ died to redeem the whole world. We can distinguish his redemptive work from the acceptance of salvation. He redeemed the whole world. However, many will reject that saving work. In affirming the universality of Christs redemptive work we are not universalists. To say that he redeemed the whole world is not to conclude that all will be saved.
"Secondly, the Pope is also affirming that all humans are created in Gods image and are therefore created good. Yes, created good, but that goodness is wounded by original sin.
"Thirdly, he is affirming that all men and women are obliged to pursue what is beautiful, good and true. Natural virtue is possibleeven obligatory, but natural virtue on its own is not sufficient for salvation. Grace is necessary to advance beyond natural virtue to bring the soul to salvation. The Pope does not say atheists being good on their own will be saved. He says they, like all men, are redeemed by Christs death and their good works are the starting place where we can meet with themthe implication being meet with them in an encounter that leads eventually to faith in Christ."
Through unrepented grave sin, some people refuse to accept the Lord's redemption --- and they lose their salvation.
Deuteronomy 4:19 & Malachi 1:11
MMMMMM...methinks this is further proof of the fact - yes, fact - that catholicism is a false religion. Period. Read your Bible, folks...it states that you will only get to Heaven through Him...not through your priest or prayers to saints. Those actions are all futile endeavors. If you’re praying to St Mary for assistance into Heaven, you’re going to be quite surprised the day you show up there.
This is probably going to come as a shocker, but if you read the entire homily, he is speaking of ‘the Church”. So I do not believe, in this instance, he is speaking of all non-Christians, atheists, etc. I do still have issues with his former quote that you have quoted here (but I won’t get into that here).
The problem is (as it has been with Francis and his pet Vatican II theology), exactly what is “the Church”? According to Francis and according to Vatican II all churches are means of salvation. Neither enforces nor teaches that the only true means of salvation is the Catholic Church.
Wouldn't a billion years be enough torment?
Many are called, but few are chosen.
bttt
Yes, ALL Christians may meet in heaven, as long as Jesus sees us as equal no matter what our earthly “church” membership is. Or perhaps there are separate, but equal rooms for each earthly denomination?
I thought the only requirement is for us to accept Jesus as our savior, nothing else.
It is pointless to try to parse or spin anything Francis says in an attempt to maintain the fiction that he is a knowledgeable Catholic or is carrying out the duties of the office of Pope. Sometimes he says things that are consistent with the Catholic Faith. Sometimes he spouts nonsense.
He is totally unqualified to be Pope. Worst of all, he is theologically illiterate.
The healthiest thing any Catholic—indeed, everybody—can do is ignore him. He won’t be around all that long.
