Turkey was once one of the most religiously tolerant majority Muslim societies in its attitude toward Jews. The reason wasnt so much tolerant political culture, but rather a belief that the Jews were a tranquil, loyal minority. After all, Turkish school books taught that while Greeks, Armenians, and Arabs all rose up against the Ottomans, the Jews did not. Hence, Turkey boasted along with Iran either the second or third largest Jewish community in the Middle East after Israel itself.
In recent years, of course, this has changed. Just as...

Who appointed you posting nazi?
Nazi? Me?
And I'm not pimping anything.
It's easier and gives the publishing site rewarding traffic.
Invasive pop up instead of article.
Demands clicking to pay for access.
The pop up ad has no option to keep it from coming back.
You may not be pimping, but the site is.
It says 8 articles free, so it should be posted completely as there are no restrictions.
Sorry, if I go to a URL and I have to jump through loops to read their material, it’s not worth it.
No need to excerpt and have to go to a site that demands money to see their stuff.
What are you talking about? You don’t have to pay to read the article.
Yes that’s true. You get the first 8 free, then you have to sign up.
That was pretty clear in my post.
Nevertheless, I always just close the window to a URL if
if it throws up a popup that I have to go to, either at the time of first opening, or later before they will let me read the article.
There are millions of sites for news much better than this one, and you can just go to them and—like magic!—you can read the article.
Jeez, what happened to the original subject of this thread?
The article is hidden behind a solicitation popup.
That’s a good point. I thought questioning Blog Pimps was humblegunner’s job. I hope he’s okay with others chipping in to help with his work.
Note: My personal standard is that I follow links even when posted in full if the writing rates the hit. If a significant amount of text is posted, and it’s good enough to deserve the hit, I’ll follow and finish reading. With excerpts like this that are too short to communicate whether the quality justifies reading the whole thing, I usually just move on.
They’re real busybodies that have nothing better to do...
You don’t want to click on a link? Don’t and move on.
That photo is hilarious.
That’s DeNiro, right?
What movie is that from?
(p.s. ix-nay on the og-blim-pay and kudos to you for humbly tail-gunning)
My point was more that if you want people to follow a link, you have to give them more incentive. I'd go with at least half the article. If it's worth reading, at that point the reader will know it's worth finishing. Think about it - if your writing is good enough, posting longer excerpts might up your hit count.
I understand your point...
My comment was directed to the posting Nazis.
Are you talkin' to me? Yep, that's De Niro all right.
What movie is that from?
It's even more hilarious when you find out what role he's playing.

One of my favorite comedies!
