To: Brother Cracker
I adore that song. I have to say though, that "Babelogue" which proceeds it on the album is a necessary prologue -- a spoken poem which feeds off nervousness and imperfect delivery but which builds in passion and intensity and then suddenly rips into Rock N Roll Nigger -- which is not at all nervous or tentative but is a fierce howl of outrage and art.

I think she is a questionable performer for the Vatican, but she is a real artist. If I trusted Pope Francis' judgment more, I might see his choice as perhaps more interesting and forgiving, but I frankly think he makes bad choices and isn't at all focused on the right things.
