God didn’t say “Do you feel lucky, punk, have you figured out all the teachings.”

He (Jesus) DID say; when asked point blank what GOD requires; answered:

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?

 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

That is ultimately it. It really is about meeting a Person who will infuse your life with newness and bear the old sin away. And that with a patience greater than that of any human being.

I can’t tie being a Christian to earthly participation in any particular denomination. There’s nothing in scripture to justify such a position, and much about the Lord to militate against it.
