Yet not once in the New Testament is Purgatory mentioned. Jesus while on the cross tells the thief that he will be in in paradise that very day. No making atonement or
“paying for” the sins of his life. Luke 23:43

Please don’t tell Catholics what to believe.

The good thief asked for forgiveness. He was granted his request because he had a Baptism of Desire/Baptism of Blood.

Please check out those two terms and find out what they mean.

Another thing — Paradise was a waiting place where all the good people from the Old Testament were waiting for Jesus Christ to be the first one into heaven. It was NOT heaven.
