666 has meaning behind it. John the Revelator was Hebrew. He would have known that each Hebrew letter of the alphabet (which is a number too) has a meaning and/or symbol to it. In the scripture it was written as six hundred and sixty six. Not 666. I find the meaning of this is to be "in the end times, a head will emerge, Satan (snake), and will hook people into sin(disbelief in my book). Allow me to show you how it works by viewing this:
I believe that the letters used to write six hundred and sixty six would be the letter Tav because it equals 400, the letter Resh because it equals 200 and these two added together would equal six hundred. The letter Samech would be used to represent 60, the letter Vav would be used to represent the number 6. So, John would have used the letters Tav, Resh, Samech, and Vav (Vav can be written vav or waw depending on some people translate Hebrew) to represent six hundred and sixty six. Tav has a meaning of "end of existence". Resh has a meaning of "emerging head". Samech has a meaning of Satan or snake. And Vav has a meaning of hook and sin. In any case, you can find through these letters and symbols how John would have used Tav, Resh, Samech, and Vav to represent Satan and his prophetic future.
He is already here as we are within Him and His Father is within Him and us. Think that is John 17...
or Luke 17:21 (KJ21)
21 Neither shall they say, Lo, it is here! or Lo, it is there! For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.
Luke 17:21 (ASV)
21 neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.
Luke 17:21 (AMP)
21 Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].
However, the point is that if Revelation is describing the actions of worldly tyrants and powers, it doesn't really matter if it is specifically referring to one particular tyrant (Nero) or empire (Rome).
Who does? However, God in His mercy understands our weaknesses, and never gives up teaching us.
Read Mathew 24, note the ending, read Revelation 6 about the st seal, note the ending. Worry, but look up with joy....
HEAR HEAR and Amen! That is beautiful and gives me great joy.
Just think, if the world loved their brother and God, the Kingdom would truly be at hand.
.666 represents the 2/3 majority. It is not the number of a human, but is a human number (imperfect) because if .666 equals 2/3 then .999 would equal 3/3 or 1. Once evil gains a 2/3 majority they will have complete control over all laws that cannot be overruled by the minority. That is the beast of the devil. Or not.
Lol.
Arabic is also read from right to left:
Ox?? That's an emasculated male? Show me any place in Scripture where that refers to an acceptable sacrifice, especially under the Mosaic Law! And where ever did you get this is Jesus speaking of Himself?
To me, the whole theory you propose is a lot of bull.
All language is communication. It’s immaterial if Jesus was speaking Hebrew to somebody who was Hebrew, or if He was speaking Greek (through John) to people who understood Greek, its the thoughts and concepts that He is attempting to impart that matter. When John said the number of the beast is ‘666’, that would have meant something to Greek readers. Whether it meant something slightly different to Hebrew readers is theoretically possible I suppose, but as they wouldnt be reading it (not understanding Greek) its kind of irrelevant. It is noticeable however that when Revelation was translated into Latin the number of the beast became ‘616’, which kind of ties the number to the meaning, rather than the meaning to the number, as your Hebrew letter/meaning idea would indicate.
Brilliant! And who created it? Al Gore! There's your proof, it's all true.
I hereby renounce all scepticism I may have harbored in the past.
It may be bull, that why I started the thread. I want to see what others think.
My understanding is that the richest in the kingdom would sacrifice an ox. The middle class sacrificed sheep and the poor sacrificed a dove.
Our Father being the richest in the universe would sacrifice a ox. To symbolize a sheep or dove would be to lesson the Fathers value of wealth.
I will point to Deuteronomy 17:1 do not sacrifice an ox or sheep with blemish.
I may be wrong, and I respect you opinion. And thanks ...
I thought 666 was Bill Gates
OK, I can swallow that. Understanding is everything. It does have meaning in both Greek and Hebrew symbols which is interesting enough. In Hebrew, you still can read, “in the end, a head will emerge, Satan, that will hook people into sin”. And it has its meaning in Greek as well.
To the Jew first and then to the Gentile. So, why not have meaning for both?
who or what is the prophetic beast?
Download this free book it is interesting.
Now tell us about the deathly hallows.
Thanks for your post # 60. I believe the beast is the Roman Empire and the number of the beast is the Roman numeral system, as noted at the end of this brief interpretation of John’s Revelation: http://bswett.com/1992-09Revelation.html
Exodus 20:24
An altar of earth you shall make to me, and shall sacrifice thereon your burnt offerings, and your peace offerings, your sheep, and your oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come to you, and I will bless you.

In my view Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the Lord thy God. Also, I believe that it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ and John Identifies the speaker as Jesus throughout the first three chapters of Revelation.
I don’t know everything, this is just my understanding in my attempt to learn more.
