Ferguson must be a moral wake-up call to white parents, not just another warning to black parents.
I and many other faith leaders came to Ferguson, Missouri, on Sunday and Monday because of Michael Brownan 18-year-old black teenager who, though unarmed, was shot and killed by a white police officer on August 9. My first thoughts when I heard the news were about my 16-year-old son Luke. I knew how unlikely it would be that this would ever happen to my white son in America.
Coming to Ferguson was about Michael Brown. But Ferguson has also become a parable for our nation. Jesus often told parables. A parable is just a story, but often one with a simple but important point.
The Ferguson parable is simply this: black lives in America are worth less than white livesespecially in our criminal justice system....

It has nothing to do with skin color. Thug lives are worth less than the lives of decent people. We have all seen the video of the thug pushing around a much smaller store owner. If that is how he behaved toward a cop, then I'm okay with him being shot (more because he bullied the shop owner, but Darwin would approve of the shooting).
Exactly. The vast majority of whites just want to be left alone, go to work, take care of their families, and mind their own business. They have no desire to “keep blacks down” or to hurt them in any way. In fact, most whites would be thrilled if blacks succeeded...if they shaped up, got jobs, and obeyed the law! Obama would not be President if millions of whites had not voted for him. We wouldn’t have affirmative action and quotas if whites had not allowed it. When blacks riot, loot, and continually blame whites for their problems, giving whites NO credit for all the good they have done, then whites start to become racist when they weren’t before.
No. Black lives taken by other blacks are worth less. Black lives taken by a white (or by someone who is called white, such as George Zimmerman,) are very, very, very precious and worth much more than white lives. White lives are worth nothing. White victims of black-on-white hate crimes are ignored or swept under the rug, while Trayvon, the Ferguson thug, etc., are tragedies. That's the hierarchy. That's how it works.
No what it actually tells us is that Blacks are failing at raising their children.
Bob Hope describes how I feel about the Fergusonites in The Ghost Breakers (1940):
