In the ghetto communities, "acting white" simply means not being a street thug, learning to read, write, and speak understandable English, and attempting to better yourself in some way. It's the internally-enforced social pressure against any kind of upward mobility in the community.
What I’m saying is, _I_ never even considering thinking about “acting in accordance with my ethnicity”.
