Partially correct. I was born, baptized, and raised a Catholic. However, I did not go off into other denominations or sects.
I found forgiveness through Christ and was born again.
Religious affiliation has nothing to do with it.
If one does have Catholic parents who still attend mass, it would be a mitzvah (good deed) to show them the love, honor, and respect of taking them to mass occasionally.
I don't. They both died relatively young over 20 years ago.
The scripture that permeates the mass will do one no harm, and if God and your conscience does not allow you to do all that Catholics do, that's okay too. Not a sermon, just a thought.
Scripture permeates my heart and mind daily as I read it, memorize it, and meditate on it.
I would NEVER go back to as little Scripture as I had as a Catholic. Why would I want to spiritually starve myself instead of freely feasting on the word at my leisure?
I thought you would attend church services somewhere on Sundays, or perhaps Saturdays.
I found forgiveness through Christ and was born again. <>I rejoice.
Religious affiliation has nothing to do with it.
I would think you have to pick some denomination, sect, or group of churches with whom to assemble.
Scripture permeates my heart and mind daily as I read it, memorize it, and meditate on it. I would NEVER go back to as little Scripture as I had as a Catholic. Why would I want to spiritually starve myself instead of freely feasting on the word at my leisure?
Never go back to sin; cling to the LORD Jesus Christ. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Just consider, that while you were starved for grace and truth during your earlier years and the Catholic Church seemingly did not minister to you, it does not mean others have that same experience. Try to keep an open heart and mind. If you find a group of churches that are holy, catholic, apostolic, and historic, share them with me.
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Did you ever go to Mass? There are three readings at each Mass, more than at most Protestant services, so I hear.
If a Catholic goes to daily Mass, he hears most of the Bible over a three year cycle.
Did the Church hide the Bible from you?
But having the Bible without the Church leads to a proliferation of errors, as exemplified by the countless Protestant sects, who all can't agree on a single doctrine, (even Sola Scriptura; see high church Anglicans), except that they're not Catholic.
how can you conceivably say that you have more scripture than does a Catholic. Do you think that there are no Catholics who read the bible....attendance at Mass keeps them up on the "word" of the day, and remember there is a Catholic Mass every day of every week. Catholics have had the ENTIRE scripture for 2,014 years and you rejected at least part of it. You seem to infer that you can get more out of scripture by random reading than by both random reading and listening to Christ's teaching authority on Earth, the Catholic Church....you can't, in fact you are MUCH more likely to misinterpret scripture by doing your own thing than by doing so with some learned guidance....you don't pick a trignometry book and study it trying to learn trig....you use the book with the guidance of a trig. teacher....works every time!!
