Because the Catholic Church wanted power and knew that if scripture was available to the people they would find truth just as it hapened when they did get it. The prohibition made no distinction between copies with error or accurate copies so don’t give us the nonsense about keeping error out.

If you want her to see the redacted Catholic revisionist history reason, you'll have to post it yourself.
