James the head of the Church in Jerusalem was killed. He did not defend himself, nor did the others defend him. Saul of Tarsus was riding from city to city with is posse arresting and imprisoning innocent, blameless Christians and even having them killed, and they did not resist nor did they arm to defend themselves. Did they? There seems to be some kind of principle in practice here.

Good morning. Don't know whether all of the martyrs gave up without a struggle but your points regarding Christian pacifism seem justified and are always worth reconsideration.

But not being an Adventist or a JW member, I wonder how this impacts the current discussion of the thread.

We are not told whether or not they tried to defend themselves or not. It is immaterial to the narrative. The assumption they did not is just that, an assumption.
