Well, why not? There are other commentaries that very thoroughly explain Scripture.
The Catholic church has (allegedly) only had 2,000 years to work on it.

Elsie, let me explain something to you about the Catholic faith. The Catholic Church does not maintain some kind of gigantic reference work, where every single text and phrase in the Bible is fully and precisely explained. Rather, the Church realizes we are continually getting a deeper appreciation of everything in the written "Word of God". Well, why not? There are other commentaries that very thoroughly explain Scripture.
The Catholic church has (allegedly) only had 2,000 years to work on it.

Once again the words of the Catholic Church itself exsposes the falsehood of comments made in these threads by Catholics.

You are mistaking a prayer shortcut (with obvious implicit direction to God through the saint for fulfillment) with some kind of stand-alone action by a saint. What a bunch of hogwash.
That is a prayer directed TO a saint asking him specifically FOR something.
All the rationalization in the world isn't going to change the fact one bit that that prayer was not to God.

My late husband had that a few years before he died. The only trouble he had was the itching afterwards. They made him wear something like a patch on it until it healed. Keep me updated, please. God bless.

Nobody ever found, nor claimed to ind, nor so much as credited the possibility of finding, bodily remains of Mary.
Nobody ever found D.B. Coopers remains.
Let us assume he was assumtuated!

Sodomy is unnatural. Marc Driscoll should not have misled sheep by sanctioning it.
YOU deflected the discourse to sodomy! Not I.
WHO is Marc Driscoll and how is he germaine to my sincere questions and statements you have evaded so far?
Are you just funnin' with us? Question.

I know that from my genealogy research on my late husband’s ancestors. Some of what I read made me nauseated. I was amazed that so called Christians could do such horrible things. Wish I could find my notebook with all that info in it. It is probably still over at my house.

He attended synagogue, kept kosher, and went to the holy temple for high holidays; sounds like a devout Jew, thanks to Jesus.
Above all, Peter was a simple fisherman. That’s one of the reasons Jesus chose him.

The LORD Jesus Christ built his church on the Jewish apostles and prophets...
If so, you can present Scriptural evidence right now. Will you dare to read the actual words of Jesus recorded in the Holy Bible? He did NOT found His Church on the one he named "Rocky". He founded it on the "rock" of the Father's revelation to Peter that no man ever had taught Peter.
You could just look it up, read it, believe it, and then this point of contention would be settled between us, wouldn't it?
To: Rides_A_Red_Horse
Yet now they want someone with a piled higher and deeper to make sure they have been well indoctrinated into the pagan practices and beliefs.

You won't even consider that Jesus Christ would NOT found His Church on any other person than Himself. HIS Church; not Peter's! I'm going with Messiah on this. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

No, he chose him because he was a Jew(el).
So why not the ranking Rabbis and Holy Men? He wanted a simple fisherman who would become a “fisher of men.”

“...this rock...”
WHAT rock?
The wavering, Lord-denying fisherman named Simon Peter but renamed Cephas (Rocky) by Jesus Christ?
Go with that erroneous interpretation and you could build the entire fabrication that is the RCC.
To: af_vet_1981
Even your Church admits it was on his confession rather than him as a person. And the truth from the Greek text shows what the keys are and what binding and loosing is. Many Catholics are learning of the lies the Catholic Church teaches.

Erroneous, he coined the phrase afterward. He was looking for Jew(el)s in the rough, do to speak; typical mistake we all make. An apostle could just as easily have been a publican or tax collector. 7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
