Gee, you’re going to be usurping me as the chief anti-Catholic on FR before you know it.

I think this pope thinks he's the bride... Jesus said to His diciples...."Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love respectful greetings in the market places, and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets, who devour widows' houses, and 'for appearance's sake' offer long prayers.... These will receive greater condemnation."...Luke 20

....”Putting Christ in the background seems to be pervasive. Of course that is what Satan strives for”....

True...though we are not ignorant of his devices because we know God's word.......unfortunately many are and why they get tangled in the webs of false doctrines and beliefs. They don't know the scriptures as God wants them to know them... so they can be enticed easily by false religions and cults who ‘Masquerade” as Christian....and “counterfeit” Christianity.

It is written....Matthew 23:5-9

“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;.... they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;... they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven."

Catholics worshipping the "Lord of the Earthquakes"....

Ever since the ridiculous claim that an oil painting of Christ on the Cross held off a devastating earthquake that was rattling the city of Cuzco, the locals have been rendering homage to the image of 'Taitacha Temblores, the Lord of the Earthquakes.'... This celebration allows onlookers to get a glimpse of 'the fusion of Andean religions and Roman Catholicism.'

The Cuzco Catholic Cathedral, where the image is kept, is built on the foundations of the ancient temple dedicated to the pagan god 'Apulla Tikse Wiracocha.'.... The image of the Lord of Eathquakes is carried in a procession through the streets of the city just as the Incas used to parade the mummies of their chieftains, high priests and supreme rulers....... In the end, the dominating part of the celebration involves the ñucchu flower (salvia esplendes), used as an offering to the ancient gods Kon and Wiracocha. This is rather amusing because an image that can stop an earthquake can´t even walk but must be carried.

This makes me sad.

Not the miracle, but the comments of many who don’t know what they say.

Why would you be sad?......

Jesus Himself certainly had some very strong words for the ‘religious leaders’ during His earthly ministry who couldn’t understand Him....and then told them clearly why they couldn’t understand...

.....He said......Why do you not understand My speech?..... Because you are not able to listen to’ My word.’........ You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do..... He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him..... When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. ...... But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. ..... John 8:43-45

Anyone can see that these are very strong scathing words ......

Certainly as His children we too should expose false doctrines and behavior for what they are ....if people are offended by that then perhaps they need to take a look at what they do believe to see if or not they are in the faith as God would have them believe..rather than what they are told they must believe or desire otherwise.

I think that if any Catholic isn’t saddened or at least angered by the charges of “idolatry” on this thread, they aren’t a true Catholic.

With that said it’s probably best for any including myself to just pray that perhaps some saint (maybe St Augustine would be the best) pray for those who have leveled such charges. There’s really no worth in public displays of anger; it’s too difficult (for most myself certainly) to not fall into sinful anger even if starting off from the righteous variety.

I think it would be profitable for all who have leveled such charges to ask themselves: “why did I come on this thread to say this? Did this thread attack me or my faith? Is it really reasonable for me to believe Catholics for 2,000 years never thought of this objection?”

To me, to believe that (what is in quotes above), demonstrates more deception via simple ignorance than any deception we Catholics may suffer on the issue of “idolatry”.

...”I think that if any Catholic isn't’t saddened or at least angered by the charges of “idolatry” on this thread, they aren’t a true Catholic”....

Well then those ‘who aren't’ have a chance for the truth to reach them before they become ensnared with Catholicism. That's to celebrate! and I do.

Having a departed Saint Pray is a fruitless endeavor for they have no power to answer prayers or intervene at all....and certainly can't see what's happening here... That is the work of Jesus Christ and him alone...He is the ONLY mediator between God and man and who we are to pray to....Just as he said.

None who have opposed Catholicism's false teachings and behavior need to ask themselves anything...they know why they are on this thread and who is supporting the endeavor to expose the idolatry and love of relics which is practiced throughout Catholicism.

And just FYI the rest of your post is the "standard" response and excuse for continuing to resist the truth that God would have people otherwise know and wants to reveal...but as Jesus said to Israel.. who continued to resist correction .......

".... the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her!... How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it!"......... Luke 13

So too do catholics need to turn from their relics and idolatry to Christ Jesus as he would have them know him.

Where's that in the Bible?

Rev. 5:8

And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God's people.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for someone to show me "the Bible alone is the sole rule of faith," in the Bible.

Idolatry? What is idolatry?

Exodus 20: ... 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of ANYTHING* in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Seems pretty clear to me!

*emphasis added by me...

And of course, you must remember that it was only a movie. It would be a mistake to judge what Rome’s faith is (was) really like, based on Fellini’s fantasized account.

Does this mean there aren’t really vehicles that can transform into giant battle robots?
