It's likely they got themselves (at least their paws) "feelthy" when doing so.

Hence the phrase, "feelthy papist"?

But look on the bright side. No one can blame Mary (mother of the incarnate Christ) for their behaviors.

They be more as Ishmaels, but even lesser and lower than that, not able to trace fleshly bloodlines either.
